When we've visited other countries in SE Asia and commented to the natives about how friendly they were they usually say that the Lao are even friendlier. That is our experience, too. And the Lao, like the Vietnamese, are amazingly generous, happily sharing what little they have. You might want to read Barbara's trip notes on Laos and her notes on Vietnam.
