Pervasive culture. Everywhere I went. Poorest places. Some of the pool halls were not good places. Discontent, malcontent. You know what now resides in the Lenin Theatre Ulaan Baatar? This, in the middle of north east no where, Laos.

Terrific shots for the light, angle, tones and subject. But I want to see them bigger. When we've visited other countries in SE Asia and commented to the natives about how friendly they were they usually say that the Lao are even friendlier. That is our experience, too. And the Lao, like the Vietnamese, are amazingly generous, happily sharing what little they have. You might want to read Barbara's trip notes on Laos and her notes on Vietnam.
