I used the Hyperdrive Colorspace on the road this summer.

Battery life is very disappointing : after backing-up 3 cards and

browsing 2 dozens of pictures, the device being shut down for 48

hours after that, the battery is flat. :(

I'll let you know.

For the ease of use, I'm an Apple man, and the interface is PC-like, with those C: letters everywhere. So for me, I cannot use it without checking the manual — which is not

as complete as it should be.

But the Backup from the cards is pretty fast — and that's my main purpose.

Reading the specs :

Battery Performance

Backup 120GB on a single battery charge

My battery is flat after 4 cards max (of 2 Gb each). We're far from 120 Gb.

Stan,

My experience with the same device is not quite as bad as yours. Allthough backinging up 120gb on a charge is a pipe dream. The speeds they advertise is also not there, at least not with SD cards - the thing seems to be designed around CF cards with everyting else added as an afterthought. Also remember that the more verification done during backup the fewer cards you can do.

Let us know the response to your support ticket.

True.

BTW I forgot to mention that with v24-45-32 of the firmware - the one that was in the device when I got it (bought it 2nd hand here on LUF) it seemed to switch it self on easily when carried around on a bag or backpack. With the last two releases this seems much less of a problem and will have a positive effect on the battery life.

Carl,

Mine has been shipped with V28, 2 weeks ago.

I backed up twice, first 4 cards, second 5 cards.

Each time, battery was almost flat and device

would not operate (with a nice warning dialog).

First rep^lmy from support : "Try charging the battery overnight with AC power."

We'll see if it does the trick. Frankly, I doubt it, as I made a first charge for almost a whole day.

I have the original Hyperdrive 80 and the battery power on that has always been really poor. In fact this last trip (to Europe) I took I didn't even bother with batteries and just brought along the power cord. Great solid and dependable unit though. I'm probably going to supplement it with one of the Nexto's and back up to two units when traveling for redundancy.

Do any users have a comment on the LCD display?

From the specs I've found online, and I may be mistaken, the Colorspace O has a 3.2 inch screen (vs the M8's 2.5 inch screen) and resolution of 320 x 240 or 76,800 (x 3 colours of pixel = 230 k). Now that's the same resolution, 230 k, that the M8 has on its 2.5 inch screen.

So resolution is the same, though given the Colorspace's larger screen, that's effectively a lower resolution than the M8's screen.

My question: Is the screen much more use than the M8's screen for zooming in and checking focus etc?

Regards,

Mark

You can use the hyperspace to check focus, but the hazzle of moving the card from the M8 to the other isn't, IMHO, worth it. I use the hyperspace to go over things after download.

The resolution is the same regardless of the size of the screen. It could have been better on the larger screen, but that would also have meant it would use more power.
