Or at least, the screen upon which you mostly choose to view the photographs here?

This question, and poll, is prompted by a comment I received the other day about the image being too tall to see on a screen. Given the max image dimension of 940 pixels, how many people can see an entire 940 pixel image without scrolling?

So, I list below some common screen resolutions (plus "Other", of course). It would be interesting to see how many viewers can see a tall shot without having to roll that middle button.

Thanks.

(BTW, this is not a "****ing up a wall", "my Dad is bigger than your Dad" thing, I am just interested to see how many people have to scroll for vertical images :) )

Andy, before I reply / vote, I should like to know what a 'principle screen' is.

Never 'eard the term in my entire life, and it hasn't been a short one, either (the life).

I think new terms are being coined ceaselessly in our time, sprouting like mushrooms, but I really can't keep up. I pick two mushrooms and in the meantime eight more have emerged, crying for attention. My omelettes are truly fungally challenged! (Another mushroom! :D )

What on Earth is a 'principle screen'???

Some people have computers with two screens, using one for PS tools, for example.

Some have a laptop and a desktop and use one in preference to the other for photographic work.

Some have a crappy PC at the office and a beautiful Mac at home ;)

The question relates to the screen that you would consider your main, prefered screen for viewing the photos on the forum.

I have a really, really crappy PC in the office and a beautiful VAIO at home with a 16" 'black onyx' LCD SVGA screen set at 1024 x 768 32-bit colour resolution.

I only use a screen to view web photos and, of course, to post them, the rare times that I do.

Cheers Andy - I have now voted (seems to be the main resolution so far),

17" iMac are 1440x900, like 17" Powerbook...

For me, the problem is more what is upon the photo (lot of space is lost there)

I am running a Dell 15.4" laptop with 1680x1050 display driven by an ATI Radeon X1400. It is an absolute gorgeous display, it shows every little flaw in an image and very fine rendering. Images that I thought were ok on my old laptop now look pretty average on this display.

This display is now my excuse for better lenses. :-)

I must try to find out who made this LCD!

Tim
