jaapv Posted July 14, 2008 Share #21 Posted July 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) It might be a good idea to get rid of the subforums. It is an unnecessary complication. If a subject merits a separate subforum, it merits a separate forum. Or group the subjects in main forums and have a complete subforum structure. Like the photoforum and the German/International structure. But not both systems mixed.
Advertisement Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Preview - New home page. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robert_parker Posted July 17, 2008 Share #22 Posted July 17, 2008 Have to say I don't like it. It's too much like a clone of RFF, which I find a nightmare to navigate around. I like what we have - it is clear and plain and functional. Regards, Bill I'd have to say I agree with Bill on this - when I looked at the new startpage, I found myself saying 'Why?' and the navigation seeems a whole lot more difficult - as with Steve, I prefer to review the forums one by one, rather than see what the newest posts were. I think the parallell with RFF's homepage is correct in that I found that site offputting to start off on and navigate around. Ps. Happy Birthday Andy Barton !! NZDavid Posted August 25, 2008 Share #23 Posted August 25, 2008 Most dominant feature is RSS and stacks of advertisements. Looks very commercial. I would have thought the forum/ and or pictures would have been the main feature. Font size of forum headings on lefthand side is too small.
LUF Admin Posted August 25, 2008 Author Share #24 Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks for your feedback! Right now the start page is "under construction" - I'm playing around with different content and technologies. The current status is in no way a suggestion how it's supposed to be... Best regards Andreas

jaapv Posted August 26, 2008 Share #27 Posted August 26, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I happened to think to myself just last week that the look of the forum is indeed getting a bit old-fashioned compared to some other forums. I agree with Andreas that a bit of style-updating is in order.

robert_parker Posted August 26, 2008 Share #29 Posted August 26, 2008 I'd echo Erl on this - for me, the original (old) layout works just fine
phc Posted November 10, 2008 Share #30 Posted November 10, 2008 I'd like a page that shows my only the forums I usually read. There are several I never go to and it would be better if they didn't clutter up the page. I'd say there's too much clutter anyway. Keep it simple! Cheers, P. Michael Hiles Posted November 10, 2008 Share #31 Posted November 10, 2008 I like the laft side navigation window and the Forum Overview window. The Foren International window seems redundant. I also get a Willkommen and a Welcome window. Redundant. It would be nice if it were possible to save the "look" each person wants, so the pre-made choices were applied as part of the login/recognition process. I know we can save a "skin", but it would be nice to save the windows we each want to see on startup. I like the pictures - I am seeing four thumbnail size shot. Even eight would be nice. To replace... The "Latest" window. I use this feature, but I would prefer to choose it myself. I think it is not a good use of space. But generally, it looks good.
