fernando_b Posted June 27, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted June 27, 2008 In 1988 Leica no more produced the R4, it was replaced in 1987 by the R5. Regarding the cost, I remember that in Milano (Italy) they selled the body only R4 in 1980 for about 2 million Liras (about 1000 Euros). Fernando. dkCambridgeshire Posted June 29, 2008 Share #6  Posted June 29, 2008 I have a Jessops A2 size UK price list for 1987 ... the one with which Jessops provided a fresnel magnifier to read it ... The R4 MOT body only is listed at £850 , R4 S £520, R4 S Model 2 £680, R5 £972.85 ... M6 £1188.13 and M4-P £940.  At that time I was 2 years away from buying my first Leica body .. a used Leicaflex SL which I bought from Jessops ... but before that I had a 100mm Macro Elmar bellows lens bought from Ffordes which I used on a Canon T90 with an adaptor made by SRB.  Cheers  dunk
bobs Posted July 1, 2008 Share #7  Posted July 1, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not a R4 but R5. In Melbourne, Australia in April 1990 the retail price for a R5 body only was Aus$ 4,130, A R5 with 50mm Summicron was Aus$4,990 and this was when the R5 had been superceeded by the R6 which was, body only Aus$4,950 or Aus$5,810 with 50mm Summicron. Hope this helps  Bob Showers
