DeLallo Posted June 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I leaving for Sweden next weekend and will be there for a month.I'm told that I can't bring Eclipse2 aboard an airplane because it's flammable. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use in place of E2 if I have to do some wet cleaning. Thanks Gene
Advertisement Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Hi DeLallo, Take a look here sensor cleaning. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photon42 Posted June 21, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 21, 2008 take along sensor swabs and buy the purest available alcohol, e.g. isopropyl 99%, from a local pharmacy in Sweden. Are you sure you need wet cleaning and a blower and artic butterfly don't get the job done? Regards Ivo

farnz Posted June 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2008 Gene, Beware that some isopropyl alcohol is sold with additives to colour it or make it taste horrible and these additives can cause smearing. Pete.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use in place of E2 if I have to do some wet cleaning. Thanks Gene Eclipse can be bought easily in Sweden, I´d guess most pro oriented shops do carry it. I got mine at YFO, Brännkyrkagatan in Stockholm, but there are several other places. Of course, outside the larger cities, it might be a bit more difficult. And I DEFINITELY wouldn´t use any isopropyl (or other) alcohol product on the sensor unless explicitly declared suitable. Swedish law and regulations still are paranoid about any kind of alcohol (not just ethanol) sold in other places than the state owned liquor shops, so they may contain whatever additive that tastes most foul.... Sandokan Posted June 27, 2008 Share #12 Posted June 27, 2008 Firstly (as always) I agree with Jaap - smuggle it through Secondly, why not clean your sensor before you leave - it is unlikely to get so dirty it needs a clean within the month.
hdg Posted June 27, 2008 Share #13 Posted June 27, 2008 Take iso-propanol or ethanol and you will get the best effects (as to my experiences with the sensor of my DMR). Regards Hans
