Advertisement Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Hi davidberry, Take a look here Leica Upgrade. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted February 29, 2008 Share #2 Â Posted February 29, 2008 No news... Leica are supposedly reviewing the M product plan and we can only speculate what will become of the upgrade scheme.
rivi1969 Posted February 29, 2008 Share #3 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Maybe they realized how absurd and nonsense their idea was...
lct Posted February 29, 2008 Share #4 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Is the Leica upgrade still on for March 1 or has it been cancelled ???? No i has not been cancelled, at least officially. See the Leica site: 'an investment in the future'.
earleygallery Posted February 29, 2008 Share #5 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Have you thought of asking Leica themselves? Seems the easiest way rather than speculate.
Guest jonboylondon Posted February 29, 2008 Share #6 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Ask one of the main Leicas dealers. Steve Rogers at Sopth West Optics is very helpful. He really went out of his way to find infomratrion for me when I bought my Digilux 3 in January.
Venkman Posted February 29, 2008 Share #7 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) There never was a specific date. The press release says "from March on...". Â So - wait and see.
marknorton Posted February 29, 2008 Share #8 Â Posted February 29, 2008 No point asking anyone right now, I suspect everything is up in the air while they decide what to do.
rosuna Posted February 29, 2008 Share #9 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Maybe they realized how absurd and nonsense their idea was... Â The idea was a good one, but the price wasn't, in my opinion. Â They can offer a package of possible upgrades, like the "a la carte" program but "ex post".
rivi1969 Posted February 29, 2008 Share #10 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Hola Rosuna, Â I think the idea of offering that kind of upgrade when a camera this price has substantial flaws like the magenta problem is nonsense in my humble opinion. Nikon, Canon etc always do "upgrades" releasing new and better products with real benefits over the prior models.Things like crystal lcds, special engravings etc are nonsense. An LCD screen protector available at any local supermarket costs a dollar. Â How percentage of M8 owners would be interested in spending 1200 Euros in that thing? Â Saludos, Ricardo
lct Posted February 29, 2008 Share #11 Â Posted February 29, 2008 Main aim of this upgrade is shutter noise. May be worth the cost for those wanting to use their M8 in churches or court houses for instance. Nobody knows to what extent noise would be reduced though.
