fotografr Posted February 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just received the following email (anyone else get it?): "Dear brent, we have finished our import of the old forum-software into the new one. The layout stayed the same. There are many new features. We hope that you will like it the same way as we do, after a first "getting used to it". All Postings and all users have been imported. Only the profile fields have to be reentered and a new password has to be ordered. This is because the old software used a different encryption system then the new software. Please use the password lost function on this new URL. Type only your e-mail address, which you were using in the LEICA Forum in the middle of the screen: Leica-Club Forum - Lost Password Recovery Form After that you will get an e-mail. Read carefully that mail and follow the instructions in that e-mail We also opened already a thread with tips and tricks for the first days with this new software: Feedback: First impressions and FAQ after the forumsoftware-switch - Leica-Club Forum ATTENTION: you will get NO EMAIL from the forum anymore, if you do not login again and set your settings in the new software accordingly! Have fun with it! Your Leica-Club-Team NEW URL for the Leica forum: http://www.leicainfo.com/forum/index.php"

carstenw Posted February 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2008 Are you sure this is phishing? I seem to recall having registered as a user here once, and it looks totally legit. I think they just used an unfortunate wording, making it sound like they are trying to get your password for *this* forum, but I don't think they are. After all, they just send you a new password if you enter an email address.
ho_co Posted February 1, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2008 What is the Leica-Club Forum anyway? Anyone a member of it? --HC

andybarton Posted February 1, 2008 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2008 Here's what greets you when you click through "Leica Forum Leicainfo.com is the biggest independant Leica Community on the internet. A one-stop-shop for everything concerning Leica concentrated on one site. Register here for free! Since 23.09.2002 we have already over 3.100 registered users in our Leica Forum!" I think we beg to differ here... Given the user name that they have for me, and the fact that I had forgotten all about this place, it must be 5 years since I went there. No posts in several months, either. Unfortunately, that looks like a dead forum, to me.
Rolo Posted February 1, 2008 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2008 No, this is all OK. I'm a member of the Hasselblad Info Forum under the same banner. There's been a significant software update. All works well if the instructions are followed. Rolo
ho_co Posted February 2, 2008 Share #10 Posted February 2, 2008 ... I had forgotten all about this place, it must be 5 years since I went there. No posts in several months, either. Unfortunately, that looks like a dead forum, to me. Hmm. Dead forum announces possibility of "perpetual upgrade" to prolong product viability? Interesting idea... --HC
