stuny Posted September 1, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the road to Jaipur, we stopped briefly in a village for me to take some photos. This one shows a man boiling milk for the purpose of making sweets to sell at market. The original was a bit bigger and in color, but former Forum member, Aussie Rob Armstrong (Where are you, Rob?) suggested this crop and changing to B&W. I agree. You can see more pohtos from the road to Jaipur on the second page of India photos on our site.

semrich Posted September 1, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2006 I don't know about the original or the crop but whatever it was this is a great shot, one that I can learn from. Richard
stuny Posted September 1, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted September 1, 2006 Arthur, Albert and Richard - Thank you. I thought it might be instructive to show you the original, below.
Sandokan Posted September 2, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 2, 2006 Both are good, but the full shot gives the whole context of what he is doing - especially if you know they are "ladoos" in the background (round balls).
vic vic Posted September 2, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) stuart hi... :-) i also love the compo of full image more. about color or b/w, well - like them both. maybe try b/w in full image. anyway - fantastic photo
semrich Posted September 2, 2006 Share #8 Posted September 2, 2006 Stuart, Thanks for posting the original, as I said this is a photo I can learn from. Now seeing the original I am inclined to side with the first one in color or B&W. In foreign countries I tend to want to see enough in the frame to give some context of the location. stuny Posted September 2, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted September 2, 2006 Ravi, Victor and Richard - Thank you. For further comparison I've attached a B&W of the uncropped original. And Ravi, thank you for identifying the "ladoos". We were having so much fun meeting people and taking their photos that I failed to ask what the ladoos were called. spylaw4 Posted September 2, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 2, 2006 Although I like the full-size colour - I like the full-size B&W even more! One can almost feel the steam!
JHAG Posted September 2, 2006 Share #11 Posted September 2, 2006 Lovely You can feel both heats (a hot day + hot steaming ladoos) Wonderful query eyes. I'm just missing his feet. People's feet are so telling.
