• Faster Start Time (after extended inactivity): The camera starts up significantly faster. 

Cannot wait to test this in real-world. Did have multiple experiences of missing shots due to the slow startup.

I updated via the app, no issues with that method or pairing it again afterwards.  

I did have some issues with my profiles though, switching to any of them including the default camera one caused the Q3 43 to hang.  I had exported my profiles to the SD card just in case before the update, and importing those afterwards fixed the issue.

The new AF improvements are noticeably better, MUCH stickier to objects and my dog   Faster start up is nice too.

Basically are still there, I can say more than 90%. Although the Leica Look (again, strangely all removed) and a few other settings (like capture assistance, etc) have to be set up again, as the setting logic have been changed significantly.

This is a true delight—added to the fact the top info bar disappears when you half-press the shutter button…AND you can keep the level gauge displayed. In my view, Leica has done a super job with this firmware upgrade.

I just followed the on-screen prompts and it reconnected automatically after a few seconds.  I'd close the app, restart your iOS device, turn off the camera, then try again after making sure the camera is set to pair via Fotos.

There's been a few things like that I'm finding, settings that are no longer recalled because they changed the function.  I think to play it safe I'm going to reset the camera and set everything up from scratch rather than rely on my settings carrying over.  Probably overkill, but compared to my Sony camera it's only a 10 minute job tops to redo everything

yep  at the moment, it locks only when I choose the "default" one

Can anyone assist please?  I've just upgraded to firmware 4.0 and everything seems to be fine except the the Battery Condition function is n/a.  I am using BP-SCL6 batteries as suggested, and every time I switch the camera on I get a message "Please use battery type "BP-SCL6" for full functionality.   Is this indicative of an issue?

Excellent - I've been waiting for this one ever since Jono discussed it in his Q3M review. I hoped it would come before Christmas.

Hmmm. I plan to use the Q3 43 for a play performance tonight. I just have time to update before then.

I just watched the overview tutorial. A lot of these changes look interesting. However, I'm going to wait a day or so to see if any problems show up.

(Assuming) IOS can sometimes forget to release the bluetooth device, I've had this issue with many other devices. Try going into the settings>bluetooth and selecting the blue (i) icon alongside the Leica Q3 device and then tap forget this device.  This will clear the bluetooth entry for the device and you should be able to pair.

I have updated Q3 Monochrome via Leica FOTOS, but I have lost all my settings. I probably should have saved them before updating.

I updated via SD card, but realised I had forgotten to save my profiles. They are still there after restarting, though I haven't checked they all fully work. Given that a number of settings have changed options, I expect some inconsistencies. It updated quickly, and re-paired with my iphone quickly.

Just use the app. It is painless.

I can't find a way to have different settings on the Fn buttons. The "Thumbwheel button" and the left circular button on the rear of the camera both have the same settings.

Is there a way of differentiating between the two buttons as in the previous firmware version?

They can be downloaded from the link in post #1 (look for 'Release Notes'). They are instructions for app or SD card updates.

Focus peaking now is either on or off for MF/AF. Not a fan of this as I only want it on in MF not while in AF as its distracting.

I’ve been playing around with this new update, and I have to say the camera feels brand new and super responsive! The autofocus we’ve all been waiting for is finally here—not quite Sony-level, but the focus is incredibly fast and accurate. I really like the new menu design, it’s so clear and easy to navigate! I haven’t run into any bugs or problems at all since the update, and honestly, it was a breeze to get through.
