Yep, a couple of times (battery out for a short time, would a longer time be different?). Can't think of any permutation of reset/reformat/battery in-out that I did not use to try to "exorcise" the "ghost" profiles. Camera works just fine, getting use to the menu system, autofocus tracking does seem better on first look. Wonder if anyone else is seeing the "ghost" profiles - would probably have to have slots 3-6 be unused, profiles exported to disk then imported to test. Certainly could be something sticky that is unique to me/my camera but if so I can't figure out what.

From what people have said, I appreciate that focus peaking is on or off for MF and AF together, but how do you turn it off and on? I can't seem to find it in the menu. I think I used to (a) make sure the focus ring was in the MF range, (b) go to focussing, focus assist, focus peaking, etc, but I don't get "focus assist" as an option. I think I'm having more and more senior moments. Also, is there anywhere published a key to all of the new icons/ Capture Assistants menu, then choose a profile, then Settings for that profile.

I think you may have to save your User Profile also. Edited Thursday at 11:16 PM by hedleyw

I’m on iPhone 16 pro with iso 26.1 That's the key!!!! And that's what finally worked. I backed up my settings, reset the camera completely to defaults, removed the cam from my phone's Bluetooth, then deleted the Fotos APP from my phone. Starting out fresh with everything from default made everything work. Importing the profiles worked as well and now on to the future. I did notice when operating the camera from my phone, it seems to activate focus peaking. Then I turn it off from the screen.... I do like the ease of accessing the most useful functions now through use of the screen. They did a good job and now it feels like a new camera. You can customize the main menu now to do the same thing as favorites, and it will even show you more custom options without having to scroll like the old favorite menu. Just press and hold on an icon in the main menu to change it to whatever you want.
richard371 Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Share #107 Posted yesterday at 01:25 AM Advertisement (gone after registration) After updating my Q343 to 4.0 and going on a shoot here are my observations as far as issues I discovered. Not show stoppers but still: 1. Changing from a user profile to default freezes the cam (doing it though the menus seems ok) 2. Focus peeking is either on or off for AF/MF and previewing photos. I only want it on for MF, and not AF or previewing pics as its distracting. Should be an option at least. 3. portraits not auto rotating in playback If they can fix these 3 soon not 6 months from now, I think it's a pretty solid update. I honestly don't know how they missed this. I discovered these bugs in 5 min. They should pull the update and try again once they fix these issues.

I did change one to Leica Fotos for connectivity, but though I had one favorite set to format SD card, I don’t want it to be *that* easy to access on the main menu. Still don’t know why favorites was taken away, most of the other camera brands have it and it made using my Q3 43 dead easy. Leslie22 Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Share #109 Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Sorry to bother you, but I can't for the life of me remember how to get rid of the trash can & star icons on the playback screen , can anyone help , thanks
Jeff S Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM Share #110 Posted yesterday at 03:35 AM (edited) I don’t own a Q, but this is how Google replied when I entered your question… To remove the trash can and star rating icons from the playback screen on your Leica Q3, you need to adjust the Touch Icons (play mode)setting within the camera's menu. Here are the step-by-step instructions: Press the MENU button on the back of the camera to access the main menu. Navigate through the menu pages (using the thumbwheel or the D-pad) until you find the Customize Control options (it may be on the fourth page of the menu). Select Customize Control. Scroll down to find the option called Touch Icons (play mode) or something similarly named. Set this option to OFF. Press the menu button or appropriate confirmation button to save the setting and exit the menu. After changing this setting, the trash can and star icons should no longer appear on your playback screen when reviewing images. If they do, you may need to briefly toggle the setting off and on again to ensure the change is applied correctly. But the most right side there are 3 icons, one looks like expanding menu, one is star and one is a trash bin. No matter how many times I click the centre display button, only the top and bottom bars are cycled Take a closer look at the settings; you can disable the side icons there. Smogg Posted yesterday at 04:27 AM Share #113 Posted yesterday at 04:27 AM I still miss BBF. My usual shooting technique is Focus-Recompose-Wait for the decisive moment. I always use Tracking mode on all my cameras to ensure precise focus during recomposition. Currently, to do this, I have to hold the shutter button halfway down, which is inconvenient if the wait time is significant. There is no way to lock focus (AF-L doesn't help). I don't understand why Leica doesn't offer this option; as far as I know, this shooting technique is very common among photographers. 4
Tarekith Posted yesterday at 05:09 AM Share #114 Posted yesterday at 05:09 AM I didn't think portraits ever auto rotated in the Q3.
Tarekith Posted 23 hours ago Share #115 Posted 23 hours ago So far the only thing I really don't care for in V4 is the way Func button assignments are done. In the earlier OS you could choose what function options you could access by holding down a function button on a button by button basis. On the the new OS, you can only choose globally for all function buttons. Fn1 for me before was Looks and WB, Fn2 was Digital Zoom and Focus Peaking, etc. Made it really easy to switch between just a couple options for each function button. Now every single function button and the thumb wheel have a list of all the options I want to access, so I have to scroll through 5-7 different settings each time I want to change what a function button does. That's the only thing that feels like a step backwards to me personally. So far.
quiet.seattle Posted 23 hours ago Share #116 Posted 23 hours ago Yes, with this update shots taken in portrait orientation/vertically are seen small and horizontally in playback. This did not occur previously and it is frustrating.

Smogg Posted 23 hours ago Share #119 Posted 23 hours ago (edited) This can't be anything other than a developer error. They overlooked it. I hope this serious bug is fixed in the next firmware update. Edited 23 hours ago by Smogg
hoolyproductions Posted 23 hours ago Share #120 Posted 23 hours ago 9 hours ago, Smogg said: Unfortunately, the developers decided that hard and soft buttons were sufficient. That may be true, but then they should have been able to assign the same functions to them as it was in Favorites menu. This bothered a lot of SL3 users at first (loss of the favourites menu cf. SL2). I quickly got used to it and now prefer it - but the SL3 has more function buttons which makes it less of an issue. I've now set up my Q3 43 so almost everything I need is there but I miss a quick way to change between EVF extended and EVF automatic, which is now buried deep in the camera settings. Not a major issue in my case though.
