Maybe to show image quality and low light capability? You could say the same about any photograph because reality is not monochromatic, but some representations of reality look better in black and white. I often use it to check the quality of high ISO images of various cameras. I like how the monochrome sensors work and I liked the results of the B&W conversion. But, thank you for C&C.
