Apparently this battery is now officially listed as a "part" and doesn't appear in the regular catalogue any longer.  My understanding is that it must be ordered from a Leica dealer and then you just sit and wait ........and wait.........and wait until Leica decides to put in an order to have a sufficient number made to make it worthwhile.  FYI  I have been waiting for 4 months with not a word...........so good luck

You may wish to check the making date on the reverse side of the battery.
For instance 4823VB means 48th week of 2023.

I disputing this purchase at the bank…!

Why so? Because the battery is too old? If so, i would not worry too much as one of mine is from 2013 and still works like a charm. Good to know what you're paying for though.

Look at the lenses he’s selling for $99.86…!

jaapv - are you saying that there are services that can refurbish an exhausted lithium ion battery?  i didn't think this was possible- and could even be dangerous.  Can you give the website for such a service - preferably in North America - thanks

You are right, it is not. When a lithium ion battery is 'dead' multiple chemical and mechanical processes have happened (electrolyte decomposition and corrosion, electrode plating, SEI growth, dendrites may have formed, microcracks of the current collector). These processes are not reversible. There is a whole army of researchers around the world busy trying to figure out how to grid up dead lithium ion batteries and recover lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese. The promise is to eventually dig up less of this material.

I believe what jaapv alludes to: Leica does not manufacture battery cells. You could simply crack the case of the 'spent' Leica batteries open and take out the two cells. You buy fresh cells on the open market, weld the cells together, solder on the BMS, put it back into the case, seal the case. and you got yourself a as good as new battery module. Thinking about it, it's better than new: today's battery cells are dramatically better as compared to what was available a just few years ago. Jaapv implies that this process could be made into a profitable business.
