Jeremy Bunting Posted July 22 Share #1 Posted July 22 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone else have experience with Visoflex 2 failures? My M11 stopped recognizing the device while out shooting a couple weeks ago on a hot day. I sent it back to Leica NJ and they confirmed the circuit board had failed, and that it could not be repaired. Their best offer was 15% off the price of a new Visoflex...which is very frustrating considering I'm barely six months out of warranty--I had it for two and a half years before it failed. Is it just bad luck? Have other people had these devices fail on them? I'm reluctant to purchase another one at this point, but it is handy, and I use it for my close focus 35 Summilux. Carlos cruz Posted July 22 Share #3 Posted July 22 Sorry to hear about your issue. On occasions I have to clean up the contacts on camera, but never had any major failure with it I use evf sparingly always prefer optical viewfinder.

It was about 90 degrees. It was out in the sun being used, but wasn't left still in the sun or anything like that. Towards the end of the day it just stopped working mid-shot.
lct Posted July 22 Share #5 Posted July 22 Have you applied adhesive tape to the VF2 to prevent dust getting in?

I would not have guessed from the price point that this was necessary, but no, I did not.
jakontil Posted July 22 Share #7 Posted July 22 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have you tried the same visoflex on another M11 bodies?
Gelatino Posted July 23 Share #8 Posted July 23 As said jakontil, you should be sure that the Visioflex is faulty and not the M11. Last year the visioflex and the M11 did not connect; the body was faulty and had to go to Germany.
chris7273 Posted July 23 Share #9 Posted July 23 I had also a connection problem. The two items were sent to wetzlar, under warranty. The M11 was faulty and was repaired and the Visoflex was replaced by a new.
Jeremy Bunting Posted July 23 Author Share #10 Posted July 23 Yes, the Visoflex is back with Leica, who confirmed it is not repairable. First step before I sent it back was to try it with multiple bodies at the local Leica store.
Spindrift Posted August 25 Share #11 Posted August 25 (edited) I had a large dust spec on the screen of my VisoFlex2 as well as the sound of a small ball bearing rolling around in it somewhere. Leica Service replaced it with a new one and indicated that the dust is not fixable post-manufacturing. I sure wish they were made better. Dust spec on acreen seems to be more and more regularly found… seen few cases now
Tseg Posted August 26 Share #13 Posted August 26 My first Visoflex 2 had a big piece of dust in the illuminated view immediately upon looking through it the first time. Leica says they do not do repairs on the Chinese made device… they advised for me to send back to the vendor where I bought it and that vendor sent me a new replacement one.
lct Posted August 26 Share #14 Posted August 26 My Visoflex2 is a dust magnet, don't ask me why. I stick a tape this way to avoid dust ingression. Works well so far. Welcome, dear visitor!
