Malabito Posted July 11 Share #1 Posted July 11 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! Sadly, a few days ago my 28mm Summaron stopped working. The aperture ring moves freely and doesn't change the aperture unless I press the aperture ring against the body of the lens. The lens hasn't fallen or received any impact; it just stopped working. Has anyone gone through something similar? I contacted the Leica Vienna store to see if they could fix it, but they never sent any info back. I bought the lens from them, but it is no longer under guarantee. I guess sending it to Leica would be the only option unless someone has any other recommendation... (I am getting tired of Leica krap quality, every year I need to send something new for service). Edited July 11 by Malabito

Do you have any recommended repair workshops locally you could use, if not off to Leica one fears.

Some years ago I had this problem with an old Elmarit 28mm. It was repaired in 10min. in Wetzar. I guess it is the same with the Summaron.

I don’t think they specialize in Leica gear, but since it’s a lens, it might be worth trying. If not, I’ll just contact Leica.

Yep probably something easily fixed, its just that I am getting tired of having to send them equipment every year, this would be the second thing i send them in less than a year

Worth trying, hope u sort it out smoothly.. i have a 28 summaron myself, and love every bit of it i usually go to my local repair rather than sending to leica for my analog bodies and manual lenses

One report on one lens out of thousands, and we don't know the history of this specific lens. A wonder you ever buy anything. The lens is a little gem and beautifully built. 2

It took about a month and a half from the time I sent the lens to when it returned. I think this is the first time I've read about something like this happening, so don't worry about it. It's such a fun lens, definitely one of my favorites!
