Hi! Sadly, a few days ago my 28mm Summaron stopped working.

The aperture ring moves freely and doesn't change the aperture unless I press the aperture ring against the body of the lens. The lens hasn't fallen or received any impact; it just stopped working.

Has anyone gone through something similar?

I contacted the Leica Vienna store to see if they could fix it, but they never sent any info back. I bought the lens from them, but it is no longer under guarantee.

I guess sending it to Leica would be the only option unless someone has any other recommendation...

(I am getting tired of Leica krap quality, every year I need to send something new for service).

Disappointing to read. I suspect an easy fix. Do you have any recommended repair workshops locally you could use, if not off to Leica one fears.

Some years ago I had this problem with an old Elmarit 28mm. It was repaired in 10min. in Wetzar.  I guess it is the same with the Summaron.

Yeah, I do, but I’ve never used them before. I don’t think they specialize in Leica gear, but since it’s a lens, it might be worth trying. If not, I’ll just contact Leica.

Yep probably something easily fixed, its just that I am getting tired of having to send them equipment every year, this would be the second thing i send them in less than a year :(

Worth trying, hope u sort it out smoothly.. i have a 28 summaron myself, and love every bit of it

i usually go to my local repair rather than sending to leica for my analog bodies and manual lenses
