What I don't really understand though is the assumption the Leica film cassette is somehow more 'refined' because of it's slightly different dimensions compared with an HR-50 cassette, when the simple answer is it may not be Adox themselves who are spooling the bulk film but somebody else and they are using a different brand of cassette? What caught my attention was, being slightly slimmer probably resolved my issue when taking out the cassette without being tangled.. but your view definitely more refined! I always bulk roll my BW and i have never encountered a cassette of such… may be leica themselves outsourced specifically/unspesifically and lots and lots of may be or what not in the making but still interesting with its own signature… however having the the same orange lid that tells me.. it’s adox did it lol
catacore Posted Wednesday at 01:57 PM Share #104 Posted Wednesday at 01:57 PM Just got delivery of 8 rolls on Monopan the other day. But I have paid much more than the US members have suggested at 10 USD/roll. I also have bought some 5 rolls of HR-50. Now I think I will need to develop these myself, as my lab is using Ilford RT rapid on their machine, for BW films.

Crazy how scarce here .. the only reliable developer available here is probably the DDX

When I bought the ADOX HR-50 I have also bought a small bottle (100ml) of HR-Dev. I'll try this with both the HR-50 and Monopan (since it's the same film stock). Just not sure if HR-Dev is a one-shot developer, or I should re-use it.

Mind that I found the times given by Adox extremely eccessive, I got way over developed negs with the roll I tried in hr-dev, with completely blown out highlights. I have to give it a second chance as long as it’s not expired, now that you mention it… In general it seems you have to be a bit gentler with agitations while developing hr50. Martin B Posted Thursday at 07:11 PM Share #109 Posted Thursday at 07:11 PM Pre-ordered the Monopan 50 film already in August and have yet to see this film available! I know they appear sporadically here and there with few packages only but most of it seems to be passed on via contacts or given by Leica to influencers. Well, I have bought it from my Leica dealer (as they say), despite what a certain @LocalHero1953, in his undoubtful boundless inteligence 🤣, has to say about that (excerpt from the long-to-live M-EV thread): Welcome, dear visitor! Yes, HR-DEV is one shot, but as you mix 1 part to 49 parts water it's not wasteful. Gentle agitation is critical: they say gentle tilting or inversions the first 30 seconds, then just one tilt each full minute after. That should reduce contrast and over-development. I've been using DD-X also with reduced agitation and have had pretty good results, but I'll be trying HR-DEV soon to see if it's significantly better.
