Bronski Posted May 23 Share #8 Posted May 23 Not being a camera manufacturer or software developer... The aforementioned "up to a point" would be the motor or by whatever means the lenses are moved from close focus point to infinity - there is probably a small range to improve focusing speed by adjusting the voltage. What can be improved is the autofocus software, like eye, object, or animal recognition, the prediction of movement, speed, and direction, and modern cameras don't even lose "the eyes" when the person turns it back to the camera. All that most certainly can be improved.
SrMi Posted May 23 Share #9 Posted May 23 Focus can always be improved, even if the hardware remains the same.

PDAF is faster, CDAF more accurate. Leica is more biased to. (micro)accuracy. There is a limit to software tweaks, though. In the end one will run into hardware limitations. There is more gain to be found in using lenses with fast AF. For instance the Sigma 70-200 approaches Canon AF speed on the SL3S. -Obviously not possible on a Q 🤔
reemas Posted May 24 Author Share #11 Posted May 24 Thanks. I have the Q3 43 and enjoy it but the auto focus could be better.
