Kiwimac Posted May 22 Share #1 Posted May 22 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yesterday I picked up the black chrome limited edition 11811 Apo Summicron 50mm. Whilst marvelling at its simply stunning build, I picked up and read the instructions. Like every such Leica book the MTF charts are printed in it. I was so impressed I rushed to share them here. Chazphoto Posted May 22 Share #2 Posted May 22 I suppose that’s what they mean by “off the charts good”. chazphoto
UliWer Posted May 22 Share #3 Posted May 22 (edited) Well, you shouldn‘t expect them to do everything for you. It‘s much more creative to draw your own MTF-graphs for a lens. (And probably you are the first person to read the instructions for an M-lens.) Edited May 22 by UliWer

I read it purely out of curiosity, wondering what instructions could actually be given to operate a lens that possesses but two controls. I do hope that their camera and lens attention to detail is better than that of their proof reader.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 22 Share #5 Posted May 22 I think of a problem of printing in red on a graph... their print service (external, I suppose) is not compliant... 😁 Btw, the MTF published in the tech specs of this lens have a different (rougher) vertical scaling :APO Cron50.pdf

Its not about what the instructions tell you, its about having instructions. Imagine the complaining if there were no instructions supplied with such a lens. There would be threads and threads about it. And yours will be highly collectable with the MTF data missing, just like a misengraved lens😉. Guest Posted May 22 Share #10 Posted May 22 (edited) Looks like Leica QC has now even hit the instructions. 😉 I’m sure, you can send it for “repair” - lead time: 6-12 months. 😂 Edited May 22 by 24mm_reportage

That's a noticeable point... 😉 Are there similar exemples between us ? (by logic, it ought to be not a single event onto just a single sheet: such a little sheet is probably printed in numbers on a larger sheet, then cut). Btw there is another defect : 90% line missing in the f2 graph... Edited May 23 by luigi bertolotti
TeleElmar135mm Posted May 23 Share #12 Posted May 23 ... I can see the lines. It's a flat line all over 100% printed red over the black lines (hard to see).
