Yesterday I picked up the black chrome limited edition 11811 Apo Summicron 50mm.

Whilst marvelling at its simply stunning build, I picked up and read the instructions. Like every such Leica book the MTF charts are printed in it. I was so impressed I rushed to share them here.

Well, you shouldn‘t expect them to do everything for you. It‘s much more creative to draw your own MTF-graphs for a lens.

(And probably you are the first person to read the instructions for an M-lens.)

I read it purely out of curiosity, wondering what instructions could actually be given to operate a lens that possesses but two controls.

I do hope that their camera and lens attention to detail is better than that of their proof reader.

You will find the MTF charts for all current lenses on the Leica website, and for older lens in Erwin Puts Compendium.

their print service (external, I suppose) is not compliant...

They probably thought: "This can't be right. Looks so flat. All the other lenses have nice deep curves."

Its not about what the instructions tell you, its about having instructions. Imagine the complaining if there were no instructions supplied with such a lens. There would be threads and threads about it. And yours will be highly collectable with the MTF data missing, just like a misengraved lens😉.

Let’s hope so: I could sell it and buy a 35 Apo again!

Looks like Leica QC has now even hit the instructions. 😉 I’m sure, you can send it for “repair” - lead time: 6-12 months. 😂

That's a noticeable point... 😉 Are there similar exemples between us ? (by logic, it ought to be not a single event onto just a single sheet: such a little sheet is probably printed in numbers on a larger sheet, then cut). Btw there is another defect : 90% line missing in the f2 graph...
