Ivan M Posted May 9 Share #24 Posted May 9 Is this for both the 28 AND 43? Thanks in advance.
David Wien Posted May 9 Share #25 Posted May 9 Does one need to have already installed firmware 3.0 in order to perform the 3.1.1 update? I am still using firmware 2.0.3. Thanks! David

Stephen Are there any changes that affect photo mode rather than video? The notes are misleading that they do not disclose the menu changes are only for videos.
Fortemd Posted May 10 Share #30 Posted May 10 7 hours ago, Le Chef said: Try by downloading the update to your computer. Copy to a card formatted in your camera. Install card in camera. Then go to camera information. It should say 3.0. Click on that and say yes to update. If you have profiles say yes when it asks you if you want to save them. Install. Yes, I tried all that. After charging my battery again, my camera is totally unresponsive with "black screen of death". I tried several permutations of SD card, battery, reset, etc. with no change. Sad, because I'm leaving for Spain tomorrow night. I guess I'll need to contact Leica support and mail it to the closest service center.
wlaidlaw Posted May 10 Share #31 Posted May 10 (edited) Just tried via SD card and camera could not find new firmware. Downloading again to make sure not corrupted and will re-copy to root directory on SD card. If that does not work, will update via Fotos. File is called Q3___311.lfu Wilson PS Working the second time round. Must have been a corrupted file the first time. AdrianTurner Posted May 10 Share #32 Posted May 10 Third time lucky for me. There does seem to be a download issue.
chris_tribble Posted May 10 Share #33 Posted May 10 (edited) Q3 43. Updated via SD Card (Settings copied to card during upgrade). No problems at all - and the simple improvement of being able to return the focus point to the centre is really significant for me. Thank you Leica - Chapeau!👏 Really not sure why others are having problems. Download the firmware to your computer Check your battery is 100% just to be on the safe side Copy an SD card that is a appropriately formatted for your camera (it doesn't have to be re-formatted before the update in my experience) Go to Camera Information and follow on screen instructions for firmware upgrade When asked, copy your settings back to the card Upgrade Turn off Turn back on and re-set language etc Copy back your settings via Profiles >Manage Job done! Hope that helps - it really shouldn't be a problem. Edited May 10 by chris_tribble

Barralad Posted May 10 Share #35 Posted May 10 The clipping assistant on my Q3 appears to no longer work. Not sure if this is a result of yesterday’s update, but can I ask if [a] anyone else has this issue since updating and [b] anyone has had this experience in the past and, if so, did you get to the bottom of the problem? I find this a quite useful tool when judging exposure. I should add that the other 3 capture assistants (grid, level and histogram) all work fine. Any help/ suggestions would be much appreciated. wlaidlaw Posted May 10 Share #36 Posted May 10 (edited) Am I correct in thinking you can either have spirit levels or perspective correction but not both at the same time? On my Q3-28, I have perspective correction on/off on my FN#2 button and levels set to on, for my default daylight profile. I noticed today after the FW update, that when I push the FN2 button to get perspective correction to on, the levels disappear. Seems an odd choice to make, as if you are taking architectural shots, where you would want perspective correction, you probably also want to get at least your horizontal alignment correct as well. Do Leica assume that by observing the perspective correction box's vertical bars, that if you get those equal, then the image will be horizontal. Not that easy to judge compared with the very sensitive levels. I suppose the quick answer is to do like I do on my Hasselblad X2D-100C, which has levels but not in camera perspective correction, where I correct the perspective, if for example I am using my 28P lens (22mm EFOV equivalent) in Phocus 3 post production, which has a very simple and effective correction tool Wilson Edited May 10 by wlaidlaw

Cronilux Posted May 10 Share #38 Posted May 10 vor 23 Stunden schrieb Barralad: Ah, I see. Or rather I don’t, as I never use video. I would have much preferred it if the update had provided a way of disabling the video mode (it doesn’t happen all the time, but those occasions when I inadvertently switch from photo to video are infuriating). Hold the fn button assigned to video mode and give it a new function. I use it now to toggle my focus mode. No accidents anymore. I love the possibility to toggle the AF point between center and last point. First thing I changed. A little disappointed the new AF sensitivity settings are not available in photo. smuj Posted May 10 Share #40 Posted May 10 This is my first post to this forum so I’ll start by saying hi to all. Finally part exchanged all my Nikon gear and picked up my new Q3 43 yesterday. After setting up the camera I downloaded and installed the firmware update via SD card. Followed instructions to save settings and install went OK. However after setting language/date/time the camera just sat there. Tried the usual, half press shutter, switched off/on, tried menu button, pressed OK button and combinations thereof. After switching off and leaving for about an hour switching on seems to have worked. Is this a common feature? Also after installing the settings I saved before firmware update I found that all my button settings had defaulted back to factory settings. Is this normal? Apart from that really happy with the camera. Took it on its first outing this afternoon and gave it a good workout. Impressed. As this will probably be my last camera, getting old, I look forward to using it over the next few years
