I was too weak to resist 😭 🫠

Already had the Arte di Mano case in novonappa tan and Angelo Smaldore strap in camo.

The LLL 35 8-element in Safari color matches very well in person. The hue difference is exaggerated in photos from my iPhone. Need to get a silver lens now of course 😇

M11 P Safari with Cognac strap .  I think it looks ok with a black lens but silver one is so much better, waiting for the silver 35 Summilux to arrive tomorrow.

I picked up my Safari today. Completely happy with it. And, as usual, my dalliance with other camera systems seems silly when I look at what I produce on an M without any menu diving, autofocus mastery shenanigans... just frame, focus and shoot!

I have had my M11 since they were first released, and it remains one of my favourite ever cameras. The M11-P Safari is, of course, just a heavier and differently coloured version of my original, but I am smitten.

I did sneak onto Ebay and overpay for a 28mm Summicron Safari (which I am sure will look smashing), but my favourite lens of all time, in any format, is the 35mm APO. While not the classic colour combo here, I think the M11-P Safari is going to spend most of its time with the 35 APO.

Anyway, definitely an expensive toy, but one of my more fun Leica purchases.

Received my first Leica M11-P Safari this week. It’s a learning curve coming from a Q3.

Hello! (Very) long-time member, first-time poster; English is not my mother tongue, so please be gentle. :-)

M11-p Safaris posted on this topic by forum members seem to have different shades of green; I understand it's probably the lighting, exposure, etc., but what does the colour of the camera really look like compared to the campaign advert?

Which of the above is the closest to what the camera looks like in reality?

I would say it’s kind of olive type of green (yellowish maybe?) when the reporter, for example, is more « army » type  of green

This might be helpful 👍

I had some questions about the shade of green that the M11P Safari is. This is from a DNG from a Q3 43 (not a jpeg from the Q3 with a look applied) It's cropped, but uncorrected to keep it as neutral as possible. Taken in direct sunlight with a ColorChecker Passport Video, so you can adjust WB on your monitor to get a good sense of the shade of green. The leatherette is totally matte - I mean no shine AT ALL. The paint is more of an eggshell; it's not too matte, but definitely not glossy. It doesn't attract fingerprints like some eggshell finish paints will. If you're on an Apple device, turn off "TrueTone" And you'll get as close to the actual color as I can give you in a photo.

I looks like the Leica advertisement photos when it’s in direct sunlight. Indoors or overcast light, it’s much darker and looks like it has more brown in it.

I'm thinking about a grip for the Safari. I came across the Kamerakraft one. Looks good. But not with the black or walnut grip. I saw an old m10 safari here with a silver leica grip and green leather. But the kamerakraft looks a bit kore subtile to me.

Are there other options (europe preferred). The whole thing in silver would be great.

Reading this didn't help 😀 Ended up getting one (the only M I shoot with now is the M10M) -- Given the choice between a regular M11-P and this, I really like what they did with this copy. Have to think about strap/grip options...

How do you like the m11 protector? do you plan to have it on this full-time?

It’s a Leica product so well made, and will stay on the M11-P; I bought it for my earlier M11 which I exchanged for this Safari version. Makes sense to leave it on, adds protection and the USB etc. are easy to get to.

I just came from Q2 with a practical thumb rest to M11. I was thinking about getting a thumb rest too but it seems the grip is good as is.

« Root beer » Ona leather strap, vintage look, not as smooth as the original black one but I kind of like it

The 28 "Safari" has arrived from Japan.

I'll let you know if I track down any other Safari lenses. As night follows day once I find and overpay for all three, Leica will release new versions of all my favourite lenses in Safari livery! 😀

Of the safari M lenses, only the 90 is hard to find. Many of the 50 safari M have been worked on (or are fake repainted regular versions) and don’t have the word LEICA on the front of the lens aligned to the vertical of the aperture marker like they did when new.
