andybarton Posted February 15 Share #1 Posted February 15 Advertisement (gone after registration) I might just be me, but I’ve been having problems accessing via my Mac, using Chrome, Safari or Opera today. No problem via the iPhone, even using the safe WiFi. Anyone else having a problem? No problem accessing other sites on the Mac, btw, just this one. PhotoCruiser Posted February 15 Share #5 Posted February 15 (edited) Andy, do you have a VPN running? If so switch it off. Did you made a MacOS update? It works flawless from Zurich with or without VPN. Chris Edited February 15 by PhotoCruiser
andybarton Posted February 15 Author Share #6 Posted February 15 No VPN and OS up to date. I’ve rebooted the Mac too.
PhotoCruiser Posted February 15 Share #7 Posted February 15 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems your DNS server failed, can you set it for test purposes and manually to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Settings -> Wlan -> Details on the connection you use and change the DNS server address as i wrote. If you use a cable the do the same, but under the cable settings. Chris Edited February 15 by PhotoCruiser
andybarton Posted February 15 Author Share #8 Posted February 15 It’s strange that this hasn’t affected other sites, though. I’ll have to look further later.
Ampersand Posted February 15 Share #9 Posted February 15 (edited) Massive problems with BT/EE DNS servers today. I resolved my email issue by manually changing to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 Edited February 15 by Ampersand 1
andybarton Posted February 15 Author Share #10 Posted February 15 That’ll be it. We are with BT.
pgk Posted February 15 Share #11 Posted February 15 I've been unable to reach the forum this morning too, then it suddenly became available again. EE I assume.
jcraf Posted February 15 Share #12 Posted February 15 I couldn’t access it all, from very early this morning, either via iPhone or iPad (both running the latest iOS). All seems OK now, including via imac now I’ve got access to that. A long outage, but undoubtedly a First World problem.

UliWer Posted February 15 Share #14 Posted February 15 I don't call it a real problem, though it is quite often that I get the notice "This site can't be reached" or similar when i try to reach the Forum. Then I reload the site and I have access as always. I am not sure whether I see this only with the desktop Mac or with mobile devices as well. I think the reason for this is this my setting in Safari to prevent tracking my IP. Many (most) advertising use some sort of iP tracking and on sites which have this advertising there may be a conflict which may prevent you reaching the whole site. As I said this goes away when you reload. There are other sites with much more advertising on them which are extremely slow when I try to load them (e.g. LeicaRumors) and I think it's the same reason. LocalHero1953 Posted February 15 Share #16 Posted February 15 I couldn't reach the forum around the time you first posted, but then I was using my phone and I was in the middle of a large college site where the cellphone masts are distant and the free wifi available to non-residents is crowded. I could get other websites, but not the forum, which seemed odd.
spydrxx Posted February 15 Share #17 Posted February 15 I also get "This Site Can't Be Reached" quite often then after 5-6 seconds it pops up.
