I just picked up the M11-D after shooting with the M11 for a couple years.

I noticed that I've been having to charge the M11-D more frequently than the M11. Has anyone else experienced this?

I daily carry the camera and maybe shoot a dozen or so shots a day. the M11 lasts about 3-5 days doing this before it drops below 50% while the M11-D I am getting to 20% on day 2.

I have three batteries and they all do this so I dont think its a battery issue.

Not mine. Other way around. Has that one got transfer all images and the others off or favourites only?

yea I would have thought it would be the other way around. i dont use auto transfer. just geo tag but they both are set the same.

Maybe you have different settings for auto sleep mode?

I have it set to 30 mins on both.

I do have content credentials enabled on the m11-D but it would be crazy if that caused the difference.

that's definitely not the case with mine.  already the m10d wasn't bad but my new m11d is just phenomenal in this respect, weeks at times, a month ?

sleep mode is set to 2min (30min is pretty long).  content credentials enabled.  what else ?  oh, yes, auto-transfer and such : nop, i never ever make use of FOTOs, which could also draw quite some juice out of your battery.

does your m11d camera body feel warm at times, @dscdsc ?  that could be a sign of (over)activity...

it does feel warm sometimes. I use 30 min sleep time since the time to shoot from off is too slow for me. I've been using 30 mins on the M11 ever since the FW that allowed it. I will try a shorter one on both and compare.

Background transfer? Fotos app

or may be it is new battery, needs to use vigorously before it lives up to its capacity.. charge n discharge

I have three batteries. one new battery from the M11-D, one original one from the M11 from 2022, and another spare from 2022. they all have the same issue on the M11-D. They also work fine on the M11.

There must be something playing a role in the background. May be try to set everything like the M11 to every little bit like exposure metering and see if it is any different

good point on the exposure metering. I'll check the settings and make sure everything is identical.

so, i believe that warming up is a sign of something is active, metering whatever.

you are perfectly right, the m11d is waking up too slowly, nothing you can do about it.  still, i would go with the 2min sleep mode, and test it that way with the other M11s you own.  if needed you may keep the camera awake by perpetually touching the release button.

the strange thing is that the M11 set to 30 min sleep works fine

There was a stretch there when I was taking 20-40 photos a day on my daily local walk and after several weeks battery life was only down to 35% on my M11-D.  I think I am set to 5 or 10 minute sleep.  Rarely do I have the Fotos app auto download enabled… that app, when open, seems to really deplete my phone battery life.

After experimenting with various "sleep" times I've turned it off on my M11-D, no timed shut-down. No problems with battery life, but then I never shoot much per' outing, maybe a dozen frames per day out.

I never use Foto's to transfer, view or download, actually now the camera is set to how I want it I don't even use Fotos to change settings either. There's something not right about having a "D" and then carrying a 'phone to "talk" to it. I just download files directly to the Mac on return to base.

If I feel insecure about the battery life I either take a spare one out with me or a small power-bank and top-up with that if necessary.

Do you still have the M11? Then you could do the following test: Charge the batteries of both cameras to 100 %. Set standby to ‘off’. Then leave the cameras switched on and check every hour to see how the battery capacity has decreased.

If you no longer have the M11, you can also do this. It should be about 15 % less per hour. But I'm not quite sure about the percentage.

As I was going through the settings I noticed the M11-D was stuck on 2.4ghz while the M11 was 5.0ghz. I couldn't find a way to switch the M11-D to 5.0. The manual said the default setting should be 5.0ghz so I did the factory reset and it switched to 5.0. I am going to try comparing the battery life with the settings synced
