I'm surprised Capture One doesn't have an 'Auto Colour' button to correct colour casts, certainly Photoshop does and I think also Lightroom.

I have tried the colour editor basic in C1 and there is a box for all colours which you can change hue, but it doesn't do it very well.

Currently playing around with expo disc and setting fixed WB thanks to couple of very helpful PM's forum people.  This gets magenta much better, one setting or disc use doesn't quite fix all, but have been experimenting a bit and pushing the WB towards warmer seems to be helping.

As it was a sunny day yesterday afternoon (quick rush before it rains !), I headed on down the beach area, plenty going on and took about 500 pics, yet to go through and tweak and cull.  I know when I went back to daylight WB in camera, the lovely M colour is right in ya face to test!  Battery is not quite lasting like the M11-P's... probably the checking of settings alot whist out I guess.

Each camera varies, having tried 2 M11-P with the Leica day and then hire camera service, they do not have it quite to pronouced as my M11.

I was thinking of a correction mode that didn't need for you to have an opinion about the colour cast, which makes things easier. The Photoshop button just defaults the image to neutral colour cast, so it's like a stupid mode for the user, as in 'this is what Ai see's it like'. Of course you may want a warm tone or cool tone and that is where an opinion comes in. But with the magenta cast it's imposed on you from the start. It's a whole new learning curve and nobody wants that, but Lightroom does have an 'Auto Colour' mode and it does a similar thing to Photoshop which I use, I believe you can try it on trial but don't quote me.

it would be good to learn the software! AUTO is possible in many locations in Capture One.

Thank you, but a stinging criticism of Capture One users. As I don't use Capture One I don't understand why this isn't used on a regular basis to remove the magenta cast by Capture One and M11 users? Does it work to remove the magenta as well as Photoshop?

I don't see the big magenta shift in Capture One! (what in my opinion is too much blue, Once you correct warmer it will remote magenta unbalance)

Capture one uses calibrated profiles for each camera model. Camera Raw and LrC use a different system, people who have the magenta issue are mostly Lightroom uses.

Any Program that converts a RAW/DNG image into a JPG/TIFF.. can adjust green/magenta  Tint slider.

Before using Photoshop the image goes true camera raw to convert the image to something Photoshop can use. it is called the  debayering

It would be so frustrating reading this if I hadn’t sold my M11 earlier in the year!

Honestly there is no quick post-fix for magenta issue on the M11 because it’s not consistent. There’s no magic settings that can be applied as it depends on the content (colour/exposure/wb  etc) of the image for a start. The only practical solution probably is the stupid exodisc process but honestly who wants to be doing that forever more just to perfect an issue with a high end camera?

Magenta wasn’t the primary factor for selling my M11 - in fact there were loads and it was ultimately the most disappointing camera Ive ever purchased. In fact it was one of my most disappointing purchases of the decade I’d say.
One day I’ll write up my experience and reasoning in more detail, probably get bullied and banned too. For Leica can do no wrong!! Haha.

Would agree the colour of the Q3 is much better in the magenta sense and presumably so will be the M12.

Who mentioned a big magenta shift in Capture One 😆 Good grief I think you need to calm down and either read what people say or don't bother trying to reply because you just go off on a tangent.

I was referring to the overblow Magenta cast in Lightroom, I don't see any in Capture One on my side.

But I understand people use different settings in the cameras, and each camera is different by themself.

Guess you didn't use to be a film user.

Like you I went to beach as first sunny day for a few. I took a dozen snaps with latest FW update on Daylight WB and fail to see an issue in LrC

Flame away!

Colours are reflected light…. The foam on the waves is approximately white so the colour balance is OK. Any casts you think that you see are reality.

I see this cast everywhere on M11. It's probably an obsession😂

Yes I was a film user in 'my youth', but I cannot remember the experience unfortuantely apart from taking the film to be developed and looking forward to what was on there you had forgotten 😀  Have got quite a few photo's so I think I will dig them out again !

Indeed you obviously fail to see the issue. I can see it in every single color photo, shot by daylight, that you have been posting. In my eyes you should simply move the tint slider a little to the left. But if you're okay with what you get, that's fine.

It is indeed fine. The posted image is +10
