It should not but mine is grayed-out too. I did not notice it until this thread. It should do no harm if your lens is recognized as a WATE. You may wish to make sure that the lens selected is "4/16mm".

Thank you. Yes the lens is recognised as a 4/16 but in mamual mode it gives me the option of selecting all three focal lenghts. However, I am not sure whether it can actually selects all three focal lenghts as the lens is still recognised as a 16. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that the exclusion of the auto recognition is a normal behaviour with the wate.

If I remember correctly, the lens is recognized, but because there is no rangefinder linkage for the focal lengths, you still choose which focal length you are using if you want it in EXIF.  I think (but will have to test) that if you don’t choose anything, the lens is still recorded in EXIF, but not the focal length.
