Giulio Zanni Posted February 8 Share #1 Posted February 8 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear friends, is not normal that the auto setting of the lens detection is grayed-out with wate? Thank you, Giulio
Advertisement Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Hi Giulio Zanni, Take a look here Lens detection auto grayed-out with wate - normal?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 9 Share #2 Posted February 9 Quite possible as the WATE only registers as a 16 mm lens. The other focal lengths are not transmitted.
lct Posted February 9 Share #3 Posted February 9 It should not but mine is grayed-out too. I did not notice it until this thread. It should do no harm if your lens is recognized as a WATE. You may wish to make sure that the lens selected is "4/16mm".

Yes the lens is recognised as a 4/16 but in mamual mode it gives me the option of selecting all three focal lenghts. However, I am not sure whether it can actually selects all three focal lenghts as the lens is still recognised as a 16. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that the exclusion of the auto recognition is a normal behaviour with the wate. Best, Giulio
lct Posted February 9 Share #5 Posted February 9 Sounds more like a bug if you ask me but your camera does not look different to mine at least.
davidmknoble Posted February 9 Share #6 Posted February 9 If I remember correctly, the lens is recognized, but because there is no rangefinder linkage for the focal lengths, you still choose which focal length you are using if you want it in EXIF. I think (but will have to test) that if you don’t choose anything, the lens is still recorded in EXIF, but not the focal length.
lct Posted February 9 Share #7 Posted February 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you don't choose anything the lens is recorded in EXIF as a 16/4 lens if it is coded as such (010000). Same when pen coding a CV 15/4.5 the same way for instance.
