I would like a faster processor that would allow the camera to turn on faster and work properly in continuous shooting mode (M11/M11-P does not work correctly in continuous shooting mode, often continuing the series even after releasing the shutter button).

The M10 is quicker on startup, and has a shorter shutter latency with an assumingely slower CPU. So other things are going on.

Startup and shutter latency as good as on my old and trusty Nikon D850; that would be something! Yes despite the flapping mirror the D850 is much quicker...

Yes, I dislike that and the unpredictable shutter lock out for multiple presses, give an unsatisfactory fly by wire feel.

so... i mainly use the visoflex but likely this camera is not for me since i usually shoot looking down with the visoflex screen pointing up ....

Sorry i misread your post. You meant that the EVF-M (or MV or whatever) would not have the feature of the Visoflex 2 that can be tilted on the M11 i guess. It is an interesting point that we've not been discussing on this forum yet if memory serves. Could the built-in EVF have such a feature? I have no idea about this sorry but other colleagues here will perhaps shed some light on the question.

I know for a fact that when the M11-EFV comes out I will want to buy it for sure.  Having the ability to see what you get for macro or closeup portraits is just so nice.  And you can still have the speed of Zone focus for street photography etc.  I will miss my M11-P safari which is very nice, but will return it and wait for the EVF.  In the meantime, I love to shoot film on my Leica MP.

Different experience here. Manual focusing with EVF is easy for me. I mean on M11/Visoflex 2 with auto zoom + focus peaking. YMMV.

My own mileage does differ with my M11, in that I prefer controlling the zoom with wheel and f6 button,  and turning off focus peaking. Not easy to achieve on the M11, but I now have a User Profile to freeze these parameters.

Will the M-V be TTL or will it have a separate VF with separate optics, i.e., will the field of view in the EVF extend beyond the actual frame?

Nobody knows for sure, besides Leica and ChatGPT 😉 but having a built-in EVF, what you (and others) call the M-V should be TTL by definition. Its hot shoe could still be used normally for a flash or a separate OVF i guess but all this is pure speculation.

The maximum EVF view has to be the maximum possible from the fitted lens - the EVF is simply a reflection of what the sensor sees. So you will never see a wider view in the EVF than the lens frame.

The whole concept sounds like a Q with exchangeable lenses, then, which will eliminate a significant part of the magic of the M viewfinder.

It will eliminate ALL the magic of the M viewfinder: there will not be a M viewfinder. But unlike a Q, it will not have AF, P-mode or S-mode, iris shutter, IS, or a Q body.:P

What is the essence of a M camera? The optical viewfinder? The rangefinder? The body shape? The M lenses? The bottom plate?

When I switched from Q to M, such an M-V would have been exactly what I would have wished for. But today not so much anymore. Got to learn to like M viewfinder so much that I think I would miss it. To the rangefinder: yes, that too but not so much if there is a good digital replacement.

The M mount of course, the rest is just details 😉

I guess it depends very much on who you ask.

I just reviewed about 35 photos taken with my Lieica M11-P and the Leica 75mm summicron at my daughter's graduation.   I was at f/2 or f/2.8.  I used some peaking and some rangefinder split image for focus.  Half of my images are out of focus in the eyes.  I just taped my RMA label to my Leica M11-P safari.  I will take my credit and apply it for the EVF if and when it comes along.  I rarely miss focus using adopted M lenses with an EVF.

I had the same problem with this lens.  There’s quite a lot written about it on the forum some time ago.

Mirrorlessrumors shows a photo but almost certainly fake: https://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/leica-m11-v-specs-leaked-first-m-mount-camera-with-electronic-viewfinder/

While I consider such a variant an important step, I would have appreciated a bit more imagination in the exterior design to preserve the classic look and give the cutout a new function.

But who knows, maybe Leica is still in for a surprise...
