Sara1986 Posted January 15 Share #1 Posted January 15 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! I have 3 older Leica's that I inherited from my grandfather. I have been trying to look up the value and the best place to sell them in the Netherlands but I am a bit lost. I have a Leica CL with a summicron-c 1:2/40 and an Elmar-c lens I have a Leica II mini and a Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar No 508566 Elmar1:3,5 All are working and in perfect condition, including original user manuals. Can someone advice me what the best place is to go and maybe give an estimation of what I can ask for these cameras? I also have a few Leica books, I would like to know the best place to sell these as well. Thank you so much in advance! Sara Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hi Sara1986, Take a look here Selling Leica cameras and books in the Netherlands.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 15 Share #2 Posted January 15 The forum prohibits the giving of estimates. Look on eBay. However, prices vary considerably based on condition. The safest place to sell is one of the reputed dealers, the best price would be through a private sale on Marktplaats or eBay, but in that case you must have some expertise. The books through Amazon, I suppose.

SpotmaticSP Posted January 15 Share #4 Posted January 15 Where are you from Sara? (Which area from The Netherlands)? Marktplaats is not a great place to sell Leicas. Maybe use Catawiki and let the market decide what your cameras are worth. Or sell everything at once to a dealer like Fotohandel Delfshaven which is specalized in this old stuff. You can mail me at peter@pmle.org in Dutch if you want more information.
luigi bertolotti Posted January 15 Share #5 Posted January 15 (edited) In case you have to describe them, the old Leica with Serial Number 508.566 is a Leica IIIc : it can be dated 1950-51 and with its Elmar 5 cm lens and the leather case is a valued collectible (perfectly usable, anyway), though not rare. spydrxx Posted January 15 Share #6 Posted January 15 I'll second Ebay with the caveat...you have to do your research to be able to accurately describe the items for sale and their condition. Likewise a lot of good quality pictures help potential buyers make a decision to buy. Once you know what you have, use Ebay's advanced search for sold items similar to yours to gain a sense of prices realized on previous sales. Good luck.
