So I just tried my 28mm Elmarit Asph and it wouldn't click into place. Thus I walked down to my local Leica Store and we tried a bunch of other 6 bit coded lenses, non of them would lock. Whereas no problem with old lenses. Does anybody have that issue, or know what could be causing it. Or is this a one of?

Have any of the technicians in the group done any calculations to work out the EV+ highlight recovery threshold on the CL? If so, may I ask what you concluded?

Richard

After lots of discussion about future of APS-C. How many of you think that the real reason for CL/TL being held back is the lack of native lenses ? A little history : - 2014 : T was released with two lenses : 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6 & 23mm f/2.0 - 2015 : Then two more with 11-23mm f/3.5-4.5 & 55-135mm f/3.5-4.5 - 2016 : Leica release the only two made in Germany TL lenses : 35mm f/1.4 & macro 60mm f/2.8 - 2017 : CL was released with 18mm f/2.8 pancake lens Leica were on a good track, 1 or 2 TL lenses per year. But after 2017 ? Nothing happened at all ! We should have 10 to 14 lenses by now. Not 7. Only 1 fast lens. Only a trinity of slow zoom lenses. Only 2 compact prime lenses. None of them have OIS. None of the bodies have IBIS. No portrait lens, aka equivalent to fast 85/90mm or 70-200mm f/2.8. No fast wide angle. ex : equivalent to fast 18/21mm. These lens cannot be replaced with any adapted M and R lenses. So what’s the problem here ? Leica may think that APS-C line do not sell well enough. So they stop releasing new lenses ? It is a kind a vicious cercle. But no new lens = death of the system. Just like they left the S line died by releasing only bare minimum body upgrade and no new lenses for half a decade. So what do you think about this situation ?

My [almost] two year old Tekiac Stealthcover’s tripod mounts popped out - yes, both of them. And the plastic started cracking around the tripod mounts, to boot. Thinking it’s time to update it anyway I went to LFI (where I first got it from) but lo and behold, it’s not there anymore. A quick visit to the Tekiac website and wouldn’t ya know it, it’s no longer in production. Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative? Really only need it to do the three things the Stealthcover did well: Have a grip Cover the logo Have a tripod mount Bonus points if it comes in black 🤟 Thanks!

Hmmm! I have just spent nearly an hour trying to resize each of five photos to fit as close to the .49MB limit as possible. The first two I have posted look terrible compared to the originals. There must be a better way. If there are instructions on the forum on how to do this better, could someone point them to me please? I wont post any more pics until I get this figured out properly.

Hi, I am in the fortunate position of travelling to South Africa (near Cape Town). Photography is not the purpose of the trip but it would be ‘rude’ not to take a camera. I have a cl, which I am excited about. It is a recent purchase with the kit 18mm lens. It replaces my Fuji x100t which I really enjoyed but I wanted to be able to change lens’ and I preferred the cl to Fuji x-pro 3. i just like having a camera in my jacket pocket, hence the 18mm. Physical, it makes the cl very similar to the X-100 series. Now for the questions: Is the 23 Summicron significantly better quality than the 18mm (I cant find the physical length lens so will pop into shop to see)? Is the APO-VARIO-ELMAR-TL 55-135MM considered to have a ‘good’ IQ? Should I be looking at other L-Mount lens? I have a SL2 and the 35mm Summicron, the 24-90 and an underused Sigma 14-24, but I would rather travel with something more compact and in line with the cl. The photography I like is mainly landscape but of course, a bit of street and social photography too. Thank you for your help in advance.

Greetings! Anyone tried to use the little flash unique that comes with the Leica D-Lux 7 package on a Leica CL body? Would that be compatible? (just for fill flash purpose)

My CL didn't switch automatically between LCD and EVF any more, so I sent it in. As it turned out, the eye-sensor had shifted. Given that the camera just returned from a trip through Tanzania in rather adverse conditions, it was not pristine to put it mildly when sent in and it had received a couple of shrewd knocks, so it came as no surprise that Leica refused guaranty. I did protest gently, but success could not be expected. Anyway, the estimate came to 375 Euro, which I of course accepted. However, just now, the camera was evidently opened up for repair and CS revised the cost to 135 Euro. I find that really honest and customer-friendly.

Is there any setting that would show what Leica CL User Profile is set to on the LCD screen rather than having to menu dive. Thank you. Cheers, Terry

Hey gang - wondering if anyone else out there is having the same issue I am presently facing in trying to enable some camera's capture assistance features on my Leica CL? I'm presently using Camera Firmware Version 2.2. Here's the items within the Capture Assistants section of the menu and a rundown of the functionality I 'have/don't have' for each: Grid Setup - Working, no issues here. Clipping - Does not display. Horizon - Does not display (this is the function that I'd really like to enable) Histogram - Does not display. Troubleshooting so far: Disabled then Enabled (and vice-versa) for each function. No dice, doesn't make a difference for the display of Clipping, Horizon, or Histogram. Only the Grid Setup functions as it should. I've looked for items elsewhere in the menu that might correspond to the functions that I can't get to work. Maybe something is cancelling out their functionality? Can't see anything though that might be the culprit? Is anyone else out there having this problem? This has only arisen after I updated to the most recent firmware (2.2). I can't quite remember though if the missing horizon/level gauge immediately went away directly after the firmware's installation.

Hello everyone, I have just now added a Leica CL to my Leica SL kit, using R, M and L lenses. I used the "Search" function of the forum, but came up empty. The CL manual states that the camera accepts UHS-2 SD cards (as it must!) but does it actually use the increased throughput of the UHS-2 cards? Thanks in advance. Guy

It's been a long time since I've posted. But here's a shot from a recent trip to Turkey. For this trip —six weeks in Europe, with stops in Poland, Spain, and Turkey— I left behind my M240 and decided to only travel with the CL and the 18-56mm lens (I also brought my Voigtlander f1.1 M lens, but I never put it on the CL). While my first thought was to just travel with the M240 —I go back and forth on the idea of selling the CL and the two lenses I have for it, the 18-56mm and the 55-135mm— I decided to see if I could live with just the CL. I definitely missed my M, but I have to say that I kind of liked having autofocus. Anyway, one night, my ladyfriend and I headed over to Sirkeci station to catch the Dervish show. Over my years of travel to Turkey, I've caught a dervish show at three different venues, and Sirkeci remains my favorite. Thanks for looking, Santiago

I purchased a Q end of last year, liked it so much that I sold my Nikon DSLR, Lumix FZ-2500 and Fuji XE-T3. I then purchased the CL with the 18-56mm lens a few months later. Now with adapters to use my Rokinon wide-angles, and 7 Artisan lenses I find myself using the Leica CL way more than the Q. There's no doubt that the IQ of photos from the Q, a full-frame camera, are better than the Leica CL, t's a fantastic camera and lens with macro capability.. But I'm thinking of selling it add more lenses for the CL (or at least pay it off 😎). Anyone else face this situation? BTW, with all that's going on in the world at this time, I'm fully aware that this is no big deal, but it keeps my mind off the other cataclysmic issues we're experiencing. All opinions welcome, any recommendation for lenses?...thanks. I am currently waiting for arrival of the TTArtisan 35mm F1.4 lens to ship. Be Well everyone.

Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a project to once and for all fix the analogue Leica CL's broken take up spool problem, by 3D printing them. I've ran a roll through mine with version 2 of the spool and it works pretty good, but i'm working on version 3 which should be better still - I got the dimensions slightly wrong on this one - it's too short. How many of you CL owners would be interested in buying such an item? They'd cost around £20 and be sold through eBay all said and done, and I'd make a video showing how to take apart the CL and install them, as well as reassembly - International shipping would happen too through the eBay GSP as I'm UK based. The attached photo is version 2 and not by any means the final version as this is still in very early development, but the quality of the ones that go on sale will be much higher. This one was printed by a friend of mine, but I'm soon going to acquire my own printer and make them much better. I know also that this doesn't look anything like the original, but when I copied the original part dimension for dimension, curve by curve, it didn't work and suffered the same problems as the original.. immediately. Thus I simplified it and made it more "3D Printer friendly." Thanks Tom

Hey all, was curious about how the technical aspects of the Zeiss Biogon lenses ( 25mm or 28mm ) would match up with the CL + adapter. Im between either of those or the TL 23mm Summicron. Main use cases being travel and street photography. The image render from the Zeiss seems almost better than the 23mm but worried that it wont perform as well on the CL vs a dedicated lens. Has anyone used both on a CL or T? Thanks in advance.

Dear Leica-Enthusiasts, I have been shooting with the Leica CL since a few months now and always use M lenses with the Leica and Novoflex adapters. However, over these last months I have noticed that lens-adapter-camera combination is not completely rigid. I can now slightly rotate the mount back and forth. It does not seem to affect the IQ but I am worried that it might loosen even more. Has anyone had similar experiences? I will probably just send it in to Wetzlar... Mika

Looking at a preowned CL. Anybody know how to bring up the shutter count? Appreciate it.
