Perspective Control Button Assignment for Leica Q3

Leica's latest Firmware 3.0 for the Q camera series does not allow the addition of "Perspective correction" to the "Favorites" Menu. A convenient work around is to assign this selection to the "Thumbwheel Button". For me this allows the simple convenient movement from the shutter button to the adjacent "Thumbwheel button" and back again as the situation demands ie. moving from simple street photography to architectural scenes that may need perspective correction. Incidently, I use "Function 2" button for "Digital Zoom"

Or you create two profiles, one for "Street" and one for "Architecture.

I personally don’t need to. For street photography I will set the camera to f5.6 and the shutter speed to 1/125 or 1/250 and let the camera select the ISO. I may use auto focus but sometimes focus manually using depth of field alone for street photography.  Architecture  is straight forward ie. Autofocus is fine if everything is at a distance. If I need to capture a structure at a distance along with a subject or object in the foreground too I will use a higher aperture or manual depth of field. If I am shooting high or low I select “Perspective” correction with on the “Thumbwheel button”.

You can, however, add it to a Function Button.

Don't have the Q3, but with my SL2/SL2-S bodies I prefer keeping Perspective Control turned off. I find the viewfinder lines distracting and take my attention away from the subject. Of course Perspective Control is never truly off.  The data is retained in the image file and can be applied automatically during post processing.

That is why I have assigned LPC to a function button: to turn it on temporarily so that I can frame properly, while having it off by default.
