Jewl Posted December 12, 2024 Share #5  Posted December 12, 2024 I add a filter to all my Leica lenses so I do not need to worry about dust/dirt/rain (light) too much. Even if I dont put the lens cap on…
Steadimann Posted December 17, 2024 Share #6  Posted December 17, 2024 Never put any filters on any of my lens unless it’s a creative filter.

First with that lenshood you cannot mount a filter, you can do so with the vented hood, ( if the one you have is the replacement hood that Leica made available after discovering that the originally issued one vignetted with a filter mounted............), though even the "corrected" vented hood will vignette if the filter you use is a thick one. Leica really ballsed up with the hood / filter design with this lens, compare that with the way the Voigtlander 35 Nokton 1.4 Classic handles hood and filter and the difference is obvious, Voigtlander wins hands down. But to answer your question, yes you can use a filter and lenshood with this lens only if you use the 2nd generation of Leica's vented hood, and use the thinnest screw on filter you can find. I don't use a filter myself, but feel I should if only to protect the front element glass and I only use the vented hood anyway not the solid one in the snap above. Crem Posted December 26, 2024 Share #9 Â Posted December 26, 2024 I put a clear filter on all my M lenses (including the S.R.R.) because I don't like using lens caps and I toss my camera in various bags when I leave the house. I use an official Leica UVA II filter and it has zero vignetting problems with the updated round hood.
jakontil Posted December 26, 2024 Share #10 Â Posted December 26, 2024 I always use filter be it UV or a everyday CPL + Mist filter on every of my lens, since i dont use hood and cap, for compact and carrying purposes and i gotta make sure its front element always protected from dust, moist and scratch because easier for me to replace a filter than the front element glass
Lee S Posted December 27, 2024 Share #11  Posted December 27, 2024 I wouldn’t put a filter on it OR the ugly lens hood. Looks beautiful lens only. Enjoy!
