maxpower Posted December 12, 2024 Share #2 Posted December 12, 2024 The video linked in the opening post is not working for me, but I found it here as well on the official Leica Camera YouTube channel: 6
scott kirkpatrick Posted December 12, 2024 Share #3 Posted December 12, 2024 S3, M11, and M11-P firmware downloads are all available on the Leica site now, as seen from my Vancouver BC current location. M11-D firmware has not reached here yet. I'll be patient.
jeri Posted December 12, 2024 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) First, I updated the new firmware in the app on my phone (Android for anyone who wants to know). Immediately after that, the firmware update v.2.2.0 was transferred to the camera. I must say that the entire process went smoothly without a hitch. However, I must note that I am unable to find out, or how to activate, the Bluetooth option on the camera to transfer the photos to the app. The wifi functions fast as expected. Oak Bay Leica Guy Posted December 12, 2024 Share #5 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) After it reaches you in Vancouver it should take another 10 minutes to get to me in Victoria Edited December 12, 2024 by Oak Bay Leica Guy
wolan Posted December 12, 2024 Share #6 Posted December 12, 2024 I have followed the procedure described at minute 1:15 but it does not work...
summicron75 Posted December 12, 2024 Share #7 Posted December 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) it´s a terrific update. My M11-D can now format for the first time! Also lightening fast connection and background image transfer. Updated to the D, my Q43 and SL2-S all through the app with zero problems. For all their various faults, Leica have really outdone themselves with the app. It´s a marvel. Still can´t believe it's free 😂 1

summarity Posted December 12, 2024 Share #9 Posted December 12, 2024 Finally, Leica is making use of iOS's accessory function, no more prompting about "join this network?". Very happy with this, works on the M11D and M11M. The background transfer is nice, but they could also take a note from Hasselblad and make those transfers 10bit. That's enough for most editing use cases, and more of a "true" backup than the current JPEG transfer. In testing with the M11M, the backup files are 3MP JPEGs.
J S H Posted December 12, 2024 Share #10 Posted December 12, 2024 That video linked above gives a pretty good summary of the steps involved. You might need to first delete the phone from the menu in the camera and then forget the camera in your bluetooth menu, before trying again. That should provide a reset and get things on track.
Ulli Mueller Posted December 12, 2024 Share #11 Posted December 12, 2024 Update to 2.2.0 worked smoothly. The background transfer works well, in my M11 testing the preview file has a size of only 229 KB with a resolution of 2112 × 1408.
jmr Posted December 12, 2024 Share #12 Posted December 12, 2024 I updated my M11-D through the Fotos app which went smoothly. I’m pleased to report that everything is working as advertised. It will be nice to have the previews automatically appear on my iPhone.

Almizilero Posted December 12, 2024 Share #14 Posted December 12, 2024 Updated M11-P and Fotos App . Reset ans re-paired the camera to the phone, like in the video. No background transfer or quick remote options I feel like I'm missing something, is there anything that needs to be set up in camera? I'm using ECO Mode in pairing, but setting it to Power mode doesn't change things.
clifak Posted December 12, 2024 Share #15 Posted December 12, 2024 Background transfer only seems to be working with iOS and my M11 at this time. I wasn't seeing the option with my Pixel 9 Pro(FOTOS app ver 5.0) so I tested with my wife's iPhone and it's working. Hopefully background transfer comes to Android as well. It's worth mentioning that on iOS you can also apply Leica Looks to M11 transferred photos.
marchyman Posted December 12, 2024 Share #16 Posted December 12, 2024 If it isn't working/available for you make sure you're using the latest version of fotos. When I looked at my apps the App Store app said I was up to date. However, when I searched for fotos and looked at the App Store entry I saw the download/update button indicated there was an update available. After updating he app it worked as described above. Almizilero Posted December 12, 2024 Share #17 Posted December 12, 2024 As I said, I updated the camera (2.2.2) and the app (5.0.0). But if @clifak had the same problem with Android, maybe it just isn't available yet.

scott kirkpatrick Posted December 12, 2024 Share #19 Posted December 12, 2024 I am on the road with only the M11-P. Latest Fotos 5.0 and the new firmware downloaded from the Leica site and installed on a chip seems to be working fine. I didn't think to ask the new copy of Fotos to do the upgrade, so that was not tested. Out here in the far corner of Canada, no M11-D firmware upgrade has appeared, and I haven't figured out how to ask if it is hidden in Fotos5.0. Telecaster Posted December 12, 2024 Share #20 Posted December 12, 2024 I have requested background transfer in one of the Leica surveys - amazing to see they have implemented it now!! Seems more people requested it. Thanks Leica for listening to your customers!! Love the fact Leica takes Smartphone integration really serious - this should be their #1 Investment priority for their software teams. Now lets get DNG background transfer as well - I would be prepared to sacrifice battery life for that!! + Faster transfer speeds like in the Q3 would be a dream!!! #M12featurerequest 🙂 Greetings!
