The sensor readout is independent of processor  used, though processor affects the time to process the image. 61MP sensor has slower readout than the 47MP.

My assumption is other cameras with the same sensor/readout (e.g. M11, A7RV) that don't have the Q3's long blackout have something that allows them to be quick, but even that doesn't make sense now because the M11 has the Maestro III 🤷🏽‍♂️

Completed the upgrade. Uploaded my saved user profiles. I noticed that the button customizations I had is not saved with the profiles. Am I corrected about this?

Ended up redoing the button customizations again saving them with each profile. Whish there was a global save for this.

don’t know why, but my customized buttons were restored after FW update

My numbering was retained but oddly the prefix, which I had changed from L to Q wasn't and I had to re-enter it again. Different cameras seem to be reacting differently to this FW update.

I found the same thing, today’s task is to re-program the buttons!

Just updated, I think its my first FW update as only owned it for about 10 weeks.

Anyway, it all went Ok thankfully. All six profiles properly saved, all the Function buttons correctly assigned and the photo count didn't reset and has carried on sequentially.

The worst thing was setting the time as I had it to sync with iPhone but this wasn't remembered and I couldn't remember where the setting was...

A reset does NOT erase firmware. The last is always kept.

Thank you sooo much, i always worry about updating NEW FIRMWARE. Even while doing it i get CRAZY nervous, i wont even answer my phone. I don't want to BRICK this GORGEOUS camera.

Hi,

after fw 3.0 update, my Leica Q3 has frozen three times , and I had to take out the battery in the middle of taking photos. After putting it back in, everything worked fine again. No issues with the previouse fw 2.5...

Is there any workaround???
Thanks,

Michal

Do you mean that since taking the battery out it has not frozen again? In which case there is no need for a workaround.
Or do you mean that you have had to remove the battery three times? In which case you have found a workaround, but not a solution.

You could try the usual checks: reset to factory settings, and try a different SD card, freshly formatted.

Hi,
It happens like this... I take a photo and suddenly the camera freezes. It won't turn off, won't take pictures, it doesn't respond. The only thing that works is pulling out the battery, and then everything works fine. After a while, the same scenario happens again. This has repeated 3 times after the update to fw 3.0.

Thanks,
Michal

The old solution is to change the SD card and format the new one in camera. Other than that which is common, any other cause is likely down to your particular settings rather than being a generic problem. You could also switch off Bluetooth and disconnect from Fotos if you use them, and see if that solves the problem.

I’ve used the M11 some and it has the same long blackout time when shooting in live view. Curious what the SL3 is like—from what I can tell, it is the same too.

Regarding the improvement in blackout time, I am only seeing it when shooting in the camera’s default profile. Whenever I switch to a custom profile, the longer blackout time is back. It is very different when switching between default and User 1. Anyone else notice this?

I find it difficult to judge, though I think you're right. I hadn't noticed because I always use a custom profile. It never disturbed me particularly, so I can't remember what it was like before the update.
