Is m6 still scratching ?

Bought a new MP this summer, sticker on the box indicates a manufacturing date in 2023 (I went for the shop's display model that was slightly reduced). No scratches.

I have a M-A manufactured on 2022/02 and it’s perfect. I gifted to my cousin so I’m the on market to get another film m. This time eyeing on a different style so m6 comes to my mind.

A dealer has on on shelf brand new showed to me with manufactured date of 2024/05. I couldn’t test it obviously without paying for it first. Therefore asking here.

I will likely take. What’s the most convenient and quickest way to test it? Just run a wasting roll through it ? The roll should be completely exposed or unexposed for bare eyes to spot the scratch marks easily ?

Bought new M6 in 2023, no issues at all, really like the camera! 😍

I got an MP with 2024 mfg date. I've ran 10 rolls so far with zero scratches.

Buy it, shoot it, return it when it scratches your film. Get another one.

They either scratch from the very beginning (bad QC), or they don't do it. But they don't gradually become scratchers. 😊

Purchased my MP in Hong Kong at end of February, 2024 and no problems with about twenty five rolls of film through the camera.  Amazed at how soft the black paint is but that does not affect the negatives.

All very simple Leica know the initial batch of 2022 M6’s that had the issue by serial number, now no longer an issue.

Happy to report back that my M6 re-issue is a non-scratcher.

Good, I have one question.

If you happend having one IXMOO cartridge or know someone who has,

can you check if your new M6 can be used with this cartrisge ?

Or can you make a picture of the inside when it's empty, from the base.

 

The included baseplate is not IXMOO compatible ( I know ), but old baseplate with the opening device can be found easily.

Comparing to my own M-A, the cartridge chamber is the same, so new M6 will not accept IXMOO.

For me not important as I don't use those IXMOO.

I believe the inside of m-a, mp and m6 are all the same, with m-a minus the meter.

if you don’t use IXMOO, why are you asking to see it then?
