I have one of these (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8F5XGSF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) but the way the OEM lens hood is made, there isn’t enough clearance. Camaro5 Posted November 24, 2024 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2024 I have a Q3 28 and use the OEM hood. What would be the reason to use this one over the one that comes with the camera?

Smogg Posted November 24, 2024 Share #5 Posted November 24, 2024 It's amazing that a little-known manufacturer has managed to do what Leica couldn't.

So you’ll always know where your lens cap is. Good idea: I’ve got quite a few strewn all over the landscape worldwide. The cameras are another matter -never lost one in over sixty years… 😊 1

MrOtts Posted November 30, 2024 Share #9 Posted November 30, 2024 Mine arrived today, fits perfectly, and now I can use Macro mode with my UV filter attached! Victory!
LocalHero1953 Posted November 30, 2024 Share #10 Posted November 30, 2024 (edited) NB in the other Q3 43 filter thread, some who bought the Haoge hood on Amazon received one that had a slight blue colour - the suspicion is that it may be a fake. This may not be true, of course, and it may not worry you if it is. I bought mine direct and it matches the camera. aficionados Posted December 5, 2024 Share #11 Posted December 5, 2024 and polar pro has a funny one. Dr. G Posted December 5, 2024 Share #12 Posted December 5, 2024 Honestly, for using any kind of polarizer, that flip up hood is a great solution.
boojum Posted December 6, 2024 Share #13 Posted December 6, 2024 I have the Hoage hood that Mr. Louie recommended. It works perfectly and I can shoot macro with the UV filter in place. Yes, it is a damned shame that a small company in PRC can get the problem fixed faster than the manufacturer. It is also a damned shame that thumb grips and hand grips are available for a fraction of the Wetzlar price. I like the camera a lot. It is a really good carry camera and has a good lens and sensor yielding good IQ, color and microcontrast. But what I perceive as a "Wir sind besser als Dich" attitude and poor customer support rankles me. And I do not think it will ever change. Leitzkopf. That's the way it is, that's the way it has been. I think I see a trend. The flip hood from PolarPro is slick. But pricey.

Why should the manufacturer aka Leica fix a problem (if there is any by Leicas definition) faster than a Chinese copy and paste company? Do you really expect that from a high quality manufacturer with relatively long lifespan products? And would you pay the Leica price they would charge while complaining about 130 „bucks“ for the polarpro ? Miltz Posted December 7, 2024 Share #15 Posted December 7, 2024 This entire topic feels like it’s made up, but it’s true. Crazy to think about.
Alf Steg Posted December 24, 2024 Share #16 Posted December 24, 2024 It’s a design error. Leica should make it right and offer replacement/exchange hoods. We all make mistakes. No harm no foul. Arrogance is not a pretty picture. I’ll by the Hoage but NOT a Leica UV or polarizer.
bobtodrick Posted December 24, 2024 Share #17 Posted December 24, 2024 Haoge has come to my rescue a couple of times…most recently the purchase of https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B08BZK5NCG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
chris_tribble Posted March 3 Share #18 Posted March 3 Well - I'm very happy with the Haoge product I got. Also the case from Amazon (if this helps the forum!) was excellent value and marries form and function very well indeed. Extremely comfortable (makes the camera a better fit for my hands), good access to battery and SD card, + excellent protection. Bought from Amazon UK (https://www.amazon.co.uk/MUZIRI-KINOKOO-Leica-Q3-Protective/dp/B0CQR1Q2N7) Welcome, dear visitor!
