I do not remember writing revenue.

Many non-Europeans are unfamiliar with the obligations for registered companies in EU (including Germany) about their mandatory yearly public reporting of detailed financial data. As a privately held company in Germany, Leica Camera AG is required to file detailed yearly financial statements with the German Federal Gazette in compliance with European Union regulations (not as a PR Article that was published thru some websites). These filings are publicly accessible and provide insights into Leica's financial performance. The complete thorough public report for the mentioned fiscal year 2023/24 was published on November 19th. While no direct profits were disclosed, revenue growth was accompanied by sustained growth in operating earnings, clearly indicating that the mentioned fiscal year was Leica's most profitable year to date. Confirmed with my sources.

(sigh).

Try to keep up. You wrote profits; reports wrote about revenues. The rest is either supposition or insider info. If you know insiders, so be it; no need for snark.  I’ve been a senior exec for both major public and private (US) corporations, so I understand a little bit.

Revenue (aka sales turnover) is vanity, income (aka profit) is sanity . . .

Maybe now it's time to get back to the subject matter which I believe is Leica M11 and Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2 ASPH. as Glossy Black Edition.  If no one has anything to add to the subject, then maybe just move on . . .

No, I clearly wrote profits and do not recall writing revenue, as I mentioned and explained in the "profits for dummies" style in post #90 and then hinting in the end.

Is everything ok with you, Al? 😬

Back to the topic.

Which we will interpret as there is no source and as @hdmesa suggested , you 'mis-spoke'. Why not come clean and say so?

He’s claiming an insider source, which would prohibit him from disclosing.  Otherwise he’d be treated by admin here like Steven. Still, no reason to act more like a Dick than an Al.

So in the end this is not a limited item and therefore a regular M11 with black paint. I'd rather have an M11P with authentication if wanted and 256 internal memory.

Wonder if M11 and 50/1.2 sales trends brought this BP combo about?

Whether it's limited or not is still up to the discussion. I haven't heard anything official response one way or the other from Leica nor from any dealers.

My guess is it is just like M10-R BP. A reputable dealer in Asia offered to buy my M10-R BP for USD 9500, which I rejected.

Meanwhile the first dealer in Europe offered me the second chance to buy a M11 Glossy for USD 8300, which I am trying to resist the temptation.

I posted the quote from Leica Miami with a screenshot. Both camera and lens are regular production.

By whom and where? Sure, one day Leica will stop making but you will not find any statement saying it is 'limited', but several very reputable sources (we can start with "Neither the camera nor the lens is a limited edition or special release, but rather another finish option going into standard production." from Leica Miami) say otherwise.

Sorry @hdmesa, I was typing as you were posting!

Personally I don't care if it's limited or not. Like my M10-R BP, I won't sell it even for a profit after owning it for more than 2 years second hand.

I am considering to trade in my M11 black for the glossy black, but that will incur a loss. That's why I am hesitant.

From a high level view, I'm glad Leica hasn't made these limited or special editions. Gloss black paint being democratized into general production is a huge win for us regular Leica buyers.
