I quite agree on the number but then again the M11 BP if limited to 2,000 (I'm told it will be limited but I don't know the number) will be pretty good now also plus you get all the advantages (in no particular order) such as way better battery life, a decent add on EVF if you like that sort of thing, USB-C charging, better transfer speeds to FOTOS (not quite as good as the SL3 or Q3 though), 3 year warranty, more resolution or smaller file sizes if you want, crop to 1.3 or 1.8 in live view you so don't need as many lenses when travelling, better metering etc etc. Of course if subjectively one just 'prefers' the M10 and it's quirks of course fill you boots

Yes, the wait lists have been established for a while now as this was one was rumored many moons ago by an ‘unnamed’ person. If they are limited (which I’m assuming they will be) they might not be easy to come by.

This is the reason to choose M10 over M11. But as you said, it is subjective.
 

 

The M11 under the current firmware is very stable. Did you time travel from six months ago to post this?

Sorry, we all must have missed the camera you built with "perfect software".... no one forces anyone to (1) buy a Leica and (2) keep using it if they are dissatisfied with it. All the negative energy spent on this has, frankly, gotten to point of silliness. Some folks are better off with a Sony or some such.

You said to imagine a scenario like being a war photographer where reliability was critical, but the M11 is now reliable. If you’re just out to beat dead horses, then sure, every Leica employee should spend at least two more years in Purgatory when they die someday, LOL.

I’ve owned at least as many M11s as anyone else on this board and from the beginning. Five M11s, one M11M, one M11D. I’ve lost enough money selling/trading them to have paid for one outright.

Or maybe I’m missing your point, and you can help show me on the chart where the M11 hurt you worse than it did me.

I did a very big moment (for me) in our daughter's wedding in London last Friday, they had professional photographers but I used my M11P & M for more spontaneous and casual shots. They didn't miss a beat and I didn't really think about it. Of course I get your point if you haven't had a reliable M11 but personally I see no need to go back to my M10's, I completely appreciate that might not be everyone's experience.

Also my experience of Leica has been that if you have an issue with any of their stuff you buy at store and it doesn't do what it supposed to do, take it back, explain and just get a new one. In my time buying their equipment I've had issues (just like any other brand) but I've always found them sympathetic to issues that I make clear to them, resulting in a swap out.

Talking to Leica and the people I generally trust on these things (from Leica photo walks etc) the current firmware is generally very reliable so I would expect most buyers won't now experience really any major issues outside the normal failures that any manufacturer suffers with such kit.

I ordered the BP M11 and BP 50mm f1.2. Can't wait to get my hands on them! I genuinely grow to love my M11 over the years (I disliked it to begin with due to all the changes Leica made in this gen plus the magentta tint and freezes).

Also for the 50mm f1.2 noctilux, I bought the regular version day one, and haven't regretted it a bit (I found it especially good on film).

I think it is a privilige for anybody to be able to own the BP version of these two products and in years they may retain their value much better than their regular counterparts in my view.

I generally don't view my Leica gears as investment but it's an added bonus when you know your gear is not gonna depreciate as much.

I have till today to choose between the two. I was told the earliest I could get my hands on the M11 BP will be end of the month. I may just go ahead and get a 35 apo cron instead of upgrading from my 10R, if decisions is not decided. 

 

But then again, my Ministry of Finance will be frowning either way, so that's that.

Not sure if it is a wise decision especially when the m11 is just around the corner. But what more could I wish for. It’s almost a perfect Leica m for me. I’ve always wanted the m10r to be of similar design to the m10p, and black paint is a huge bonus. 
 

I’m just preying that the m11 won’t come with bp as a standard option or it will be drastically different in terms of design language, so that this camera can retain its value better. (Call me selfish :p)

Wow.. did you just contact the  local Leica shop and order? It is not officially out yet. Do you know the specs?

I ordered the M11 BP too, it’s confirmed to be shipped this coming Friday Nov 22.

Dealer offered € 7500 before VAT. I don’t know the real cost but I’m happy to take it.

Noctilux 50/f1.2 BP is EUR 6750 excl. VAT.

Also coming are the matching accessories, which I won’t take.

Well, this says something in itself, and brings up lots of questions. Were they defects? Why not just buy a camera, one camera, and use it for a few release cycles? Why the same camera over and over again? How many do you actually need and/or can shoot at any given time?  Were they backups? How many other cameras/systems do you own and use? The GAS on this forum sure is something at times.

It will not be a copy, it will be a M11 or -P  with a 'black paint' finish instead of either of the finishes currently available.
