I have sent the email to the restaurant that seems to have everything we need, including a harbour view, so I will keep the group updated with that conversation.

Not sure about us. Sonia may well attend, but I have some ongoing issues which mean I may not.

Thanks for all your efforts Andy.

We will miss you and hope you are OK.
Thanks @andybarton - I have a friend who speaks Spanish if it helps. Message me if help needed.

Consider yourself messaged 😊

Thanks for your help, Ravi. The restaurant isn’t exactly quick at responding to emails (they haven’t…), even when written in Spanish.

I’m in two minds whether to post this in “What annoys you?” thread, but an establishment that requires you to email them to enquire about group bookings, and then doesn’t respond to emails in over a week, seems to be a bit odd.

The fact that they don’t respond to telephone contact either… seriously?

Maybe it’s part of the Spanish “We don’t want tourists any more” thing.

Eyes down again this weekend for another search.

Andy, it might be the same as with Croatia. It’s high season, lots of seasonal workers and simply no time to react for sth in October. The people in south Europe don’t plan so much ahead….

In the worst case,  suggest an old fashioned picnic 😎

Maybe, but they take bookings for small parties in October now.

We had to book early in Dubrovnik and in Nice.

If they don’t take bookings now for October, all they have to do is respond to our enquiries. As it is, our €1,500+ will go elsewhere, or nowhere.

Just back from my first visit to Mallorca.

We did an afternoon in Soller via the old narrow gauge train. So if you have time for a change of scenery, I’d recommend that

That’s our plan for the Sunday.

Someone just back from the trip said it was very crowded, so might pay to pre-book. The square in Soller is lovely and the tram to the port runs alongside it.

Later today, or tomorrow, I will provide an update on the restaurant situation, which has moved forwards positively in the last four hours.

As promised, here are the details of the restaurant that I have secured for the dinner in Palma. This is not the one that was contacted, more than once, two weeks ago.

I have made a reservation for 25 people and have had to send the restaurant a deposit of about €280 to secure the booking. Thanks to @Sandokan for sharing the cost of this. 🙏

The restaurant is

Restaurante S'Angel

Plaza de la Porta de Santa Catalina 7A,

07012 Palma, Mallorca

TripAdvisor page

Further details will be sent closer to the time, as usual.

The menu is attached. To keep things simple, any items that require a supplement will not be on "our" choice list. Vegetarian / allergy options can be discussed with them nearer the time. The cost of the meal is €45 plus a tip, so will be around €50. This is the same cost as last year.

In addition to those who have already responded, I am going to reach out to others who were in Nice last year, so that they will be reminded of the thread and that arrangements are being made. Everyone is welcome, whether you have been on a Challenge before, or not!

@AZach

@christoph_d

@gmo

@topfloor

Next task is to find a cafe for lunchtime!

It looks like @Sandokankept his word (post 33) and you selected a restaurant without wine card.

I suggest a welcome drink is on my account, and hope @andybarton can arrange this, n the same way as we managed it last year.

This is my way of saying thanks for another year with great advice, discussions and image sharing.
