I received my new sealed Q3 43 on Monday and upon opening noticed all the accessories were missing in the packaging even when the package was sealed. Was bought at a Leica store. Informed store and a replacement order was placed. When received the replacement sealed camera yesterday the box is not the same. The first one had the white keep in a safe place notice printed on the box and the replacement is missing that print. What is with the inconsistencies on a brand new product at this price. Anything to be concerned about before opening the seal and the box?  Not the exact Leica experience as expected. Was one a demo or something?

Wow, that's unheard of and very concerning. From the same dealer, the outside grey boxes even look different?

When you say all the accessories are missing, you mean "all"?

Including the lens protection ring, strap, usb-c cable? What about the warranty paper?

I think it's a manufacturer packaging oversight.

I bought mine one day after release from a Leica Store.

I don't have the text either. Not worried about that. They might have changed this last minute. Also I suspect some are not on Firmware 2.05 which mine was.

The only thing that surprised me was that the battery was completely empty. Maybe they do this to reduce fire risk when sending these via airmail.

My camera was shipped from Europe directly to me and the battery was about 80% charged.

Yes, the only thing that was in the box was the camera and the warranty card/ manuals but all of the rest of the accessories were missing. The 2 small boxes were empty.

Hello everyone,

I’d like to share my own similar experience here to seek your advice on a few concerns I have.

**Packaging and Initial Impressions:**
The package arrived in generally good condition and was well-sealed, with no obvious signs of re-sealing. However, I did notice that one corner of the outer box appeared slightly squeezed, which raised some initial concerns.

**Issues Observed Upon Unboxing:**

1. **Damaged Accessory Box:**
One of the small accessory boxes containing the battery was broken. I suspect this damage might have resulted from a hard drop or intense impact during shipping, potentially implying that the camera itself could have sustained damage.

2. **Scratch/Dirt on Lens Edge:**
I found a small spot of scratch or dirt on the edge of the lens surface. While it doesn’t affect image quality, it makes me wonder if the camera might be pre-owned.

3. **Unusual Sound from the Lens:**
When I gently shake the camera or adjust the aperture ring, I hear a sound coming from the lens caused by these mild vibrations. I believe it’s related to the optical stabilizing component, and the noise just disappears after powering on the camera. Just concerning if it should be this loud /easy to notice.

**Overall Impression:**
Despite these concerns, the camera itself is stunning in every way. It looks like a wonderful device to carry around and use as an everyday camera.

**Seeking Advice:**
Has anyone experienced similar issues? Do these observations warrant requesting an exchange or refund? Dealing with the local dealer in my area is typically challenging, so any guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Id overlook the packaging myself and the sound is normal OIS by the sounds of it.

But the ‘scratch’ on the Lens? If it’s a scratch then no, you have to send that back. Probably losing you 20% if you ever sell

For what you pay for these things they should be flawless in every respect, packaging included.  I would not be happy with damage of any kind, especially the scratch on the lens.  Disappointing as it may be, I would send it back.

Wether you buy a cheap camera or a very expensive one: There are always human beings with dirty hands or they do not follow the processes correctly. So there are mistakes. Everywhere.

Robots will solve a lot of those problems in the future. You can look forward to that future.

Surely, the whole point of these fancy boxes with lots of air in them is to protect the contents from impact damage. In doing so, the cardboard is quite likely to get bent out of shape. Missing parts are a different matter, but I wouldnt worry about damage sustained by the packaging in protecting the contents. That said, it’s a good idea to take phone photos while unpacking, in case of a real problem discovered in the process.

Is the brown box new to Leica? I haven't bought a Leica component for a few years so all my old boxes are that flimsy easy to tear grey cardboard. The new brown box seems much sturdier although I don't like the new inner box. The old origami style inner box was much better.

And to make the whole thing yet more safe for shipping, a second outer box to protect the first one? And from my limited knowledge of these matters DHL for one provides an escort service to accompany the shipment to make sure that the package is not tempered with; of course it charges extra for this.
