Advertisement Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Hi cirke, Take a look here Long awaited: Leica Q3 43 with APO-Summicron 43mm f/2 ASPH.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ramarren Posted September 26, 2024 Share #22 Posted September 26, 2024 The Q3 43 looks sweet, and I'd love one—particularly a Monochrom version—but I'm not in the market to spend $7000 for Yet-Another-Camera at this time. My solution, expedited 11 or so years ago, was to find one of the lovely SMC-Pentax-L 43mm f/1.9 Special lenses and use it on my Leica M bodies, film and digital. Such a setup may not have all the bells and whistles of the Q line, but I doubt there's really much to argue about with respect to overall image qualities.

Mandatory USB-C port in all devices like smartphones, laptops and cameras, and no battery charger to reduce electronic waste footprint. Your laptop or smartphone charger is more than enough to charge your camera. If you need more, then an external battery charger can be purchased If it is EU law, and I’m not disputing, why does the M11 Mono (which has a USB C port) come with a charger? StyxTravel Posted September 26, 2024 Share #25 Posted September 26, 2024 @T25UFO I think it’s to do with the model’s release date. The M11-D and Q3-43 are the latest, post deadline models and will have no charger. The M11-P and Q3 are pre deadline and will continue to have a charger. I think it’s the same principle with Apple, who were dragged kicking and screaming to use USB-C on iPhones released after Summer 2023 and no chargers were included in the retail box. Because, just like the Q3 which also came with a charger, these cameras were released in the first half of 2023. The SL3, released a few months ago, has no charger either. For the law, see here https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/press-room/20220930IPR41928/long-awaited-common-charger-for-mobile-devices-will-be-a-reality-in-2024
RobW0 Posted September 26, 2024 Share #27 Posted September 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I think the last Leica camera released with a charger might be the M11-P, announced on October 26, 2023.

NZDavid Posted September 26, 2024 Share #29 Posted September 26, 2024 Funnily enough, my first "real" camera in the 70s was an Olympus 35RC, which a sported a 43.5mm lens. It's a brilliant focal length and very versatile. Now, though, I mostly use the 35 with the M10. The ongoing success of the Q line shows how the classic Leica design, with the emphasis on simple analog controls and high quality results, continues to be a winning formula. Would I get one? Not sure, or even when they might be available here. Also, I may prefer something more compact for travel. But fantastic to see another new Leica camera, the first for a while. My1stLeicaCam Posted September 26, 2024 Share #31 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) I do not have a photo when I did the test accidentally. I was at the 43 launch last night in Singapore. Wanted to do a street shot comparison, just to see the difference. Set a Q3 28 & a Q3 43 to f2, speed 1/125s. Tap focus on the same object. The 43 is having a 5000 iso vs 4000 on the 28. I was expecting same iso value. Anyone knows why and maybe can do this test? Edited September 26, 2024 by My1stLeicaCam

Nice news for dessert. They obviously have/had stock and I'm pretty sure that they want to get as much as possible out the door before Rosh Hashanah begins Tuesday pm. ellisson Posted September 27, 2024 Share #39 Posted September 27, 2024 I debated back and forth whether to get the 28mm or 43mm version of the Q3. My own shooting enjoyment - not work - was the factor that pushed me to the 28mm Q3. I shoot 28 sometimes, 35mm the most, and sometimes 50mm when traveling, on the street, inside buildings, or for landscapes. Probably 25%, 50% and 25% breakdown for these focal lengths. So for 75% of my shooting, 39 or more megapixels is plenty. And 19 MP at 50 will do just fine.

Was 99% of the way to pre-order from the Leica website but didn't and now it's out of stock. I met someone today (to purchase his Q3) who ordered a Q3 43 from B&H today and is receiving it tomorrow. I thought hard about buy one this morning as well from B&H, but I remained dedicated to buying Leicas used.
