The true answer is that I have no real idea...  But I shoot raw and sometimes crop heavily, so the extra MP are a plus for me.  Other advantages are the tilting screen, the larger number of EVF pixels, and as it is a later model, greater future proofing.

But, as I said recently in the Q1 pictures thread, I have see many excellent pictures taken with that camera  — and would add her, often more interesting than those in the Q3 threads! 😀

i have no regrets about purchasing my Q3.

have owned Q2mono, original Q, and x100v.  Sold Q2M (edit: and Q) and 'downgraded' (lol) to Q2 since b&w conversions I found work for me with Q2 and still have color option, while of course the iso on Q2M is on another level in low light (which I rarely do, thus the switch). The 28mm lens is incredible on all the Q's.

imo the Fuji cameras have too many settings & buttons and I never could 'get' what I liked vs Leica, while Fuji a great point/shoot travel camera especially if with friends/family and always on the move w/no regard to technique or distractions, while Q2 is so nice to shoot solo without all the 'stuff' settings/buttons.  x100v takes excellent photos though and it is jacket-pocketable and neck-strappable, while Q2 is more wrist-strap hand-held (for me). If you can keep both, go for it.

I’d only open the Fuji if a small camera was important to you. The Q series are fine but the size of the lens means I can’t fit them in any of my pockets! It’s either body carry or bag carry. 

As for the rumoured Q43, personally I wouldn’t get one despite the fact that I always crop my Q2 images, often to a 120-ish focal length equivalent. The main difference seems, to me, that the viewfinder would display a 43mm view rather than a 28mm view with crop lines. If Leica changed the firmware to allow users to view a magnified version of the image rather than with crop lines, some here have said they would like that option. Eliminates the need for another camera though.

I look at the Q43 a little differently.  I use the APO 35 and 50 on my SL3 and can appreciate the difference in rendering of those lenses over the cropped 28 1.7 (I had the Q3).  The APO Summicron-SL lenses (and from what I’ve seen with the APO M lenses) separate the subject from the background almost as effectively as my Summilux-SL, although the background blur of the Lux is smoother and the falloff is more gradual.  43mm f/2 will give a 50mm crop at an equivalent of around f/2.3 or so, while the Q3’s 50mm gives you around f/3.1.  It may still look like the 50mm crop on this new lens has a perceived separation closer to f/1.5-1.6 if it behaves like the SL and M APO lenses. 

My most used lenses on the SL are the 50 APO and 50 Lux.  To be able to have one smaller camera that I can cover 90% of what I shoot with the almost same quality and rendering would be fantastic.

Interesting. I only had the normal 50mm Summicron for my M11 and I could never see the difference between the falloff of that and the Q2 28mm cropped (or indeed the 35mm f1.5 Nokton). I suspect I’m just not that sensitive to the quality/look of falloff and background blur unless it’s a particularly odd shape such as some of the CV Ultron lenses. Different depths of field obviously but I rarely shoot in a way that needs that - mostly street portraits and I’m very happy using the Q2 for that. I am loathe to try the SL3 as I've heard such good things about the lenses I’ll probably end up buying one!
