Renaming the file toq3_205.lfu solves the problem on the SD Card. Schoolboy error from Leica with this upgrade I have to say

Leica is going to rename the Default settings to “Spluttering Indignation” for those who think they have created a profile but have not, and those who believe, without reading the manual, that they can change the settings and they will save automatically without doing anything.

I learnt that lesson with my Porsche Panamera Hybrid. Unless you save any change, cabin temperature on driver's side etc to a numbered profile (1-3) and/or a key profile (1&2) on the profile pad on the door panel, then when you switch off any changes are lost and when you next power up it reverts to previous settings. Just the same on the Q3 and my M10-R.

The fact that the fix was launched a day or two after the launch speaks in Leica's favor.

The bug was reported months ago and fixed in the August 2.0.5 firmware release for the Q3.  Allowing for testing of the fix that firmware version would have been ready at least a month or two prior to the August release, and the fix code would be pretty much the same as the SL3 fix that was released in July.  v2.0.5 should have been finalised well before the Q3 43s were ready to have the firmware loaded to avoid any being shipped with a potentially drastic fault.  I would guess that 90%+ of the firmware code base for the Q3 43 is the same as that for the Q3.

All Q3 43 cameras should have had the latest 2.0.5 firmware loaded.  To issue a notice of a v2.0.5 firmware update for the Q3 43 suggests that some cameras may have been shipped that do not have that important release loaded, stupidity or laziness since we have confirmation that some Q3 43s have v2.0.5.

This does not speak in Leica's favour in IMHO.

A source makes it credible. A lack of source makes it questionable. As far as I know the launch stock of Q343’s all had 2.05 loaded from the start.

I still do not understand why you are getting your knickers in a twist because the first dozen Q3s did not have v2.0.5 installed (mine did not). This is a firmware update for a bug nobody observed in Q3, as well as other bug fixes.

My knickers, as you so eloquently put it, are neither twisted nor my favoured form of undergarment.

I couldn't care less as I'm not interested in the Q3 43. I merely stated that I thought it was unbelievable and unacceptable that a new Q3 model was released with a firmware version installed that was known to have a serious bug in it. Whether people observed it or not in the Q3 is immaterial, it existed and it was rectified and the affected firmware should not have been used for any future production.

Mine did not. Was version 2.04. Bought from a Leica dealer on launch day. But updating the firmware was easy enough, so no worries.

See the post above this one.  Leica has issued the v.2.0.5 firmware update on its download page because not all Q3 43s were shipped with that firmware.  The fact that Leica has put it there and not issued a notice that owners of the Q3 43 should check their camera firmware and update it if it is below v2.0.5 is as unbelievable as shipping cameras with a firmware that has a known, and potentially serious, bug in it.

Of course, it is up to owners to decide whether to update the firmware or live with the possibility of losing pictures.

I agree though, these are very first world problems and relatively insignificant in the scale of issues being faced my many around the world.

Using Profiles is really a nightmare...!

Thanks for highlighting this and posting the video.

 

I ran into this but didn't realize it was a bug. I thought that I was incorrectly swiping on a setting to enter video and then struggling to get out. Now that I see it and the work around I will avoid at least a little aggrevation.
