Fully agree with Tom, not always "take it slowly" is enough to nail focus all the time, and at large apertures, even the focus confirmation dot becomes somewhat imprecise at times.

I couldn't find an original split prims focussing screen for my 006 and I've ordered one third party from China, but I haven't dared to install it yet..

While we are off on the tangent of AF, is there any difference between AF performance of the S versions: S2, S 006, S007, S3?

Having S006 and S3, the latter is slightly faster and more reliable (less forth-back focusing than 006). With the outstanding optical viewfinder, I often use manual focus, so I can not say that AF is that important for me.

I'm planning to purchase a used (there are no new ones so this makes sense) S3 or S2 007 within the next year for an upcoming exhibition in Paris that I am designing.

The prints will be quite large, hence the preference for the medium format camera.

I'm sticking with these two models so I am tired of noise about alternative camera brands or smaller sized cameras.

I have just bought a second S(007) with five lenses; mostly these overlap with what I have so will be selling a 35, 45CS, 70 and 180 if anybody is interested.  May be interested in 30/30CS and/or 120CS.

That's a lot of extra firepower. I hope you got a good deal on all that. If the 45 weren't so darn huge I might be tempted to make you an offer...

And pass me a word if anyone is in search for a S3... (too little use on my side).

Out of curiosity, what are you mainly using instead? An SL3?

Yes, SL3 and Q3. Plus S006, for nostalgia...

Dear Helged, how much are you thinking for your S3?

I am considering too streamlining what I have -and rarely use-. A 10r and a q2 will go, and eventually the S3 (when the new one comes). I rarely use them.

Bought a dual charger from China. The previous one is dead.

Is it a genuine Leica or a compatible version? If it’s the latter, would you mind sharing the details?

Investing in an S system, as of today:

  • S006 with a new sensor and with the rare Split Microprism. A Hen's tooth that one... sadly the camera has a flaw and went to Germany. I am lucky enough to have a loaner S006 + a 70mm lens as a spare to keep playing this summer in the meantime.
  • 35CS with new AF motor and 1 year warranty, in like new condition
  • a very beautiful 120CS with a repaired shutter in 2013 BUT seemingly an old AF motor. The 1 year warranty is un-conditional so I decided to keep it for this period at least
  • Another hen's tooth: a used Leica S Case 16010.... should come in the mail tmr. Also super hard to find it seems.

S3, 100 and 180 on the backburner of my mind

Very nice purchases congrats! Basically bought the veru same stuff a few months ago (save from the 35 as I chose the 30) and I could be happier, I'm a CCD junkie to the point that afterwards I also bought an M9 with the fixed sensor as well 😀

I also have the 180 I can only highly recommend it, especially if you do female portraiture work, it has a somehow gentler rendering vs the 120 (which is anyway amazing by itself) and for me is my "poor's man" Cron 100, which is still too expensive for my pockets..
