As there is another topic regarding the discontinuation of Leica M240/246 battery’s and the future of this camera when the battery’s finally die and none are available. I wonder if the sellers of used M240’s both private and dealers would inform potential buyers about this situation especially if only sold with one battery? It seems that the Leica M9/8 cameras would be a better way into the Leica system as you can get third party batteries for them and providing the electronics keep working could outlast the M240. I wonder if now that Leica has discontinued the batteries this would encourage third party manufacturers to make them. For the record I own a M-P type 240 and at the moment I have three batteries so should be ok for a few years. I was looking at a type 246 Monochrom but now I am not so sure.

Go for it, while you can.

Mine, second hand, came with two batteries many years ago and as I wrote not one battery failed.

I have one too. The battery is the last thing I worry about. I don't know why, but I actually have 4 batteries. Two have never been used. I said back then that you can never have enough batteries... Before I knew that the batteries in the 240 can guarantee months of operation on one charge. One thing I particularly appreciate about the camera. I have batteries from completely different systems that are much older and have been used more. They don't last as long as they used to. But they are still usable. I'm not worried about them. It's like with film cameras: what do you do when there's no more film... In 20 years I probably won't care. Use it while you can, enjoy today and don't worry.
