KenSea Posted July 23, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 23, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I just find it very frustrating that I cant find a Leica battery for my Leica M10R. I have shelled out a lot of money on the M10R, 21mmSEM, 35mmSummilux and 75mm f2 lens and there's no batteries to be found in the USA. Makes me wonder just how committed Leica Germany is to their customers. Certainly if i was selling batteries at 200.OO a pop I would have them available to sell. Come on Leica USA, I know they are available in Germany. Also in calling around at several stories i got people saying well that camera has been discontinued, like i suppose to throw the camera away? I have shot LEICA since the mid 70's and although their gear is always much higher priced than the competition it has been a good investment, Leica Digital i am not so sure of. Very disappointing customer support ken Edited July 23, 2024 by KenSea Correctiing my thoughts

LeicaR10 Posted July 24, 2024 Share #3 Posted July 24, 2024 KenSea, You might call Leica Store San Francisco, Camera West in Rancho Mirage CA, Leica Store Miami. I just bought 2 new M10 batteries from Camera West the two weeks ago. r/ Mark
CP93 Posted July 24, 2024 Share #4 Posted July 24, 2024 I bought one online from Ace Photo in Virginia, but I had to try twice to get one that worked. First one was DOA, not what you expect for $200, but the second is working fine.
jaapv Posted July 24, 2024 Share #5 Posted July 24, 2024 It may have escaped notice but the sea transport between East Asia and Europe is somewhat disrupted by Houthis firing rockets at ships entering the Suez Canal. This causes supply problems for European companies.i am sure that Leica is no exception.
AceVentura1986 Posted July 24, 2024 Share #6 Posted July 24, 2024 Just checked and it’s “back ordered” at B&H in the US. Doesn’t really affect me, tho, as I bought an extra one after getting my M10M in December and now have a third after getting my M10P. I’m good for a while, but this is a bit disconcerting. Very disappointing customer support ken Hiya KenSea, et al, Yes, as an M10* owner, the dirth of BP-SCL5 batteries, atm, is concerning...was so since this May, 2024. Let's take a breath, if I may suggest... You DO have some great glass that any Leica M-Mount camera happily abide... Let's, say, ditch the M10-R for another abiding body, non? & NO, I'm not suggesting here which body to buy...that's your call ;)...you've used Leica gear for over 40 years, after-all. HOWEVER, you have the glass, now seeking a "new abode." I'll leave off here, knowing when to "recharge" my batteries, courage(FR)!,
R4p70r Posted July 29, 2024 Share #8 Posted July 29, 2024 No issues here in Germany. I ordered one for my M10 Monochrom from Leica last week and I received it few days after.
Deejaybeephoto Posted July 31, 2024 Share #9 Posted July 31, 2024 As I’ve mentioned before, I bought one used from MPB at a good price - and it holds its charge as well as my other batteries.
tpf1952 Posted August 8, 2024 Share #10 Posted August 8, 2024 In the U.S., finding a new battery for an M-10 is currently a non-starter. Checking a local dealer and B&H regularly. I think the days of abundant new M-10 batteries may have reached a sunset.
insideline Posted August 9, 2024 Share #11 Posted August 9, 2024 FYI, I just purchased a new M10 battery from PopFlash and they have plenty in stock. Aug. 9th '24. 1
fordfanjpn Posted August 11, 2024 Share #12 Posted August 11, 2024 None to be found here in Japan right now. I'll keep searching. There are restrictions on mailing batteries into Japan, so I'll keep my search local. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Without any batteries available what do you think happens to the resale value? Would you junk your Tesla because you couldn't get a new battery? Are you suggesting I just eat the cost of my M10's and buy M11's ? Then the batteries for M11's become extinct, then what? I'm having trouble with your logic. I'm a professional photographer and have been using Leica's for years for my fine art work. What am I supposed to do without batteries?

I'm a professional photographer and have been using Leica's for years for my fine art work. What am I supposed to do without batteries? Pay it no mind. Some users on here have a lot more money than sense. Which is why Leica offers their basic version, then the 'P' and then the 'D' and so on. I would almost bet that the majority of the special versions are sold to those who already have the base model. It's a bit of madness. I prefer to hold onto my bodies for as long as possible. There needs to be a regular battery supply, or Leica need to communicate what's going on. Not us spending money we don't have, on something we don't need.
