Need new firmware for M240 generation

Does anyone wait for Leica to release new firmware for M240 series， for the new lens issued after the firmware 2.1.1.0

Yes. (In my personal case, for the M Type 246, too.)

The last M240 firmware was 2.1.0.0 dated 30/10/2019. Since then, there have been 3 new codes IINW (35/1.4 reedit, 35/2 apo, 90/1.5). Not sure Leica will issue a new firmware for 3 lenses on a 10+ yo camera but i have no info about that. I would ask Leica if i were interested.

Just a small point (purely in the name of pedantry .😸.); the last incarnation of the M240 generation of cameras was the M-E 240 which was still available to buy new as recently as the first half of 2020 so a mere four years ago.

But no; I'm still not going to hold my breath waiting for a software update for the good old 262!

Wouldn't be nice if the firmware allowed corrections to be user-edited, so new 6-bit codes could be added at home.

Is that too revolutionary?

Would allow for false codes and the Leica warranty could not work in such case of user error i suspect.

How would the warranty come into it?

With Leica's recent history of software bugs, I'd rather not have updates, the M240 is quite stable.

No precise idea but freezes has been caused by false code readings already. If i were the Leica's insurer or lawyer i would say no but YMMV

M Mono Typ 246

M-D Typ 262

so I hope our voices can be heard by Leica

I'm not planning (not now anyway) to buy one of those , so I don't wait for new firmware.

Having so many non-coded lens some in LTM can help.

For years, I use those happily and no new firmware will add anything.

Can you relate it's story of the dead battery if not dead at start ?

From I know, when in use charged regularly, 14499 batteries must not give problem (dead).

Not important for me as happy user of the original E43 (silver and E46 Ti coated and black).
