What SD card(s) are you using? (Brand, Size, Write Speed) 2. Do you shoot to the internal drive? (if so as a backup, overflow or splitting DNG and JPGS) 3. Are you using Leica lenses, Voightlander or other? Or the Fotos app.

Like sometimes it shoots many picts on a row when you try to shoot one image and sometimes many? I actually cant use the camera in continuous low, it has to be in single or in high, but also in high it's quite erratic I’ve had the same experience with my M11 in continuous low, since day one. It’s unusable for me and nothing like continuous low on the M10 series. It’s partially due to the close-open-close-open mechanism of the M11 shutter where the camera delays the final open shutter in anticipation for additional continuous shots. It took a week or so to get a feel for how much/long pressure I need to use to take a single rather than multiple pictures but I quickly got used to it. I have the same set up on my Q2 and I wanted the two cameras to have as identical set up as possible. Personally, I find it suits my style of shooting but the M11 is my first M-series camera so maybe it’s just because I don’t have anything to compare it with. MaxGor Posted July 5, 2024 Share #25 Posted July 5, 2024 I have a Leica M11-P with the latest firmware. It occasionally freezes, but it's manageable; I'm not sure why some people are so concerned. I'm using a SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB XC1 card, though I've read that Leica recommends XC2 cards. I tried using only the internal storage after removing the SD card, but the camera still froze once. I accidentally deleted photographs from the internal storage and couldn't restore them. I've since put the SD card back in and ordered an XC2 card as a replacement. "I'm not sure why some people are so concerned" - perhaps because some expect to use the camera in a profesional environment, for which you need a reliable system. Or perhaps because some spent a lot of money expecting a finished product.. IF you only shoot a few images per year and only use the camera for none relevant stuff yes i guess it's not a big issue.

I am an avid hobbyist who takes around 1,000 photos over the weekends. Sometimes, I also shoot photos on my way to and from work. In my experience, the camera occasionally freezes, about once a week. When this happens, it takes about 10 seconds to recover. While this can be annoying, it generally isn’t a major issue. However, I agree that this shouldn't be happening with a product that costs $8,000.
brickftl Posted July 5, 2024 Author Share #28 Posted July 5, 2024 I want the M11, still do after avoiding it since I bought the M10 in February over lockup fears, but the continued M11 problems are stopping me. Maybe because I had a lockup problem with my brand new Q3 from which it couldn't recover - turned the Q3 into a brick.

I would like to purchase a M11-P even though I have a rock solid M10-R. Why? Well, simply because of the "creature comforts" it offers like Fotos geodata, redundant file recording, longer battery life, a fully functional Visoflex 2, etc. On the flip side the real IQ benefits are marginal and I worry about the Sony 60MP sensor's affinity for dust bunnies. It's good news that the recent M11 Firmware 2.1.1 questionnaire results posted by Admin here were (in my opinion) positive. Still the M11-P is a gamble...and I'm unsettled. But you know Leica's got to get the M11 firmware 99% fixed before the M12 (or the EVF model) arrives or those new models will be looked upon with great skepticism. At least by the knowledgeable minority here and elsewhere. If I decide to get a M11-P, I will keep my M10-R as a second color body for quick access to a second lens in the field and also as a backup body. The M10-R is going to be a classic anyway. I've noticed 10-R used prices are going up and not many are out there for sale... Edited July 5, 2024 by goodbokeh Typo
brickftl Posted July 5, 2024 Author Share #30 Posted July 5, 2024 2 questions 1. has anyone who experienced freeze/lockup had that situation persist more than a minute or two, or even worse, been a permanent situation? 2. what's considered a good price for a mint used M10-P silver? With the freeze issue you have to remove the battery and reinsert it. For the M11 not having baseplate and having a quick release button it’s fairly simple but can be annoying as you might miss a moment due to the freeze. This being said. All digital camera freeze. However, it’s more common on the m11. It’s still one of my favorite cameras to use though.
LeicaR10 Posted July 5, 2024 Share #33 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) Brickftl, Your Post #30. I owned all three M11 variants. All three suffered multiple issues. All three returned to the dealer for refunds. To answer your questions. 1. Yes. M11 multiple freezes and final bricking. M11-M Lost files, freezes. M11-P Lost files, freezes lasting several minutes. I have been a 50+ year Leica user of nearly all Leica systems (M, R, S, SL) for business and personal use. Save your money and grief until Leica either finally fixes (that I highly doubt will happen) the multple issues (going on 2+ years) with the M11s or fields a RELIABLE and issue free M12. As my Leica dealer told me. Always wait at least a year before buying a new camera model or lens and let the early adopters debug the camera first....sage advice. 2. M10-P IMO a fair price for a mint condition camera $5K to max $5,800 K. IMO M10-R is a better camera with 40 Mps etc. $5600K for a mint M10-R if you can find one. r/ Mark Edited July 5, 2024 by LeicaR10

Maybe there will be a further update but I don't expect a Excel spreadsheet report given the nature of the responses as Admin. characterized them. LeicaR10 Posted July 6, 2024 Share #38 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Hdmesa, The last update I tried was 2.1.1 in May with the M11-P. When I lost files and then froze on day 2, it went back to the dealer for refund and picked up a M10-R from the same. My nuclear powered wallet suffered a melt down as well. r/ Mark Edited July 6, 2024 by LeicaR10

Some had the same issue, but it went away after full reset and deleting/recreating their user profiles. In any case, glad you're happy with the M10R. It's a great camera with a unique color signature, especially if you prefer a somewhat more green tint to the magenta tint of the M11.
