igotid Posted June 26, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looking for a camera for concerts. Since most venues don’t allow detachable lenses, the DLUX seemed like a decent option. best reviews I’ve seen outside of Leica has been for the Sony RX100 VII
Advertisement Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Hi igotid, Take a look here DLUX8 for concert photography. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TL3 Posted June 26, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2024 I do wonder how it will do in low light. I've just been using my phone with decent results in the past.
SrMi Posted June 26, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 26, 2024 It should do as well as D-Lux 7 or LX100 II. You may search online for concert images with those cameras.
jankap Posted June 27, 2024 Share #4 Posted June 27, 2024 The Sigma fp would be a noise free solution, but gives banding at higher "shutter" speeds. Modern lighting installations do not use bulb lamps any more.
stuny Posted June 29, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 29, 2024 If you stay in jpeg m ode, you can select iZoom from the menu. That extends the long of the zoom to 150 MM equivalent, using a virtually lossless algorithm too do so.
giganova Posted July 2, 2024 Share #6 Posted July 2, 2024 User ColdShower posted JPG and DNG images in his “2000 photos” thread. Some are taken at ISO 6400 (which you’ll probably need for indoor concerts) and there is a lot of noise in the photos.
Le Chef Posted July 3, 2024 Share #7 Posted July 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) You can always use a denoise program.

For DNG I find DxO PureRaw4 to be astonishingly good. For jpeg or DNG Topaz PhotoAI is good but not quite in PR4 league.
Le Chef Posted July 4, 2024 Share #11 Posted July 4, 2024 Or you can use the Denoise sub-program in Lightroom. Both DXO PR and LR Denoise work well.

Whereas the Leica menus feel very organized in the way you shoot, like "Mise en Place". In low light the Sony images look like granola. I'm sure with both cameras and a Denoise program they should be usable to at least 6400.
Einst_Stein Posted July 4, 2024 Share #13 Posted July 4, 2024 I have never found camera’s IQ matters in special color balance lighting conditions such as concert, except high ISO and wide aperture. The end pictures have weird color tone anyway.
Foxtwo Posted July 4, 2024 Share #14 Posted July 4, 2024 Seems to me that the right tool for the job would be better served with a Q2 or Q3. The lens isn’t detachable, so the venue police can’t bust you for your photographic efforts.
